  1. Oh Lema, I do feel for you. We had all no's/ waiting lists last year and it's very hard. This year (for Year 8 entry) it has been easier despite some more no's. Still waiting on MAs but no expectations. Dd is a lot more relaxed and enjoying exploring other avenues. Things have a way of working out for the best even if it does not seem that way at the time.

Congratulations to all the yeses. Very exciting times!

  2. Hi balletqueen, we were told last year that, in London at least, there is a Year 7/8 class and a Year 8/9 class and therefore there is a chance of getting a Year 8 place even if they missed out on a Year 7 one. (Like my dd!) I think it's a matter of fingers crossed though, there are so few places!

  3. Congratulations to all those yeses! Fantastic news for all. comiserations for the nos, we've had plenty of those!

Balletqueen, as Zacharovitti said, an invite to Year 8 finals is a huge achievement. Had she auditioned last year too? Just wondered if she'd been to finals before.

My dd auditioned for Year 7 last year and did not make finals, this year she seems even more determined but I suspect it'll be another 'no'.

  4. Hi Zacharovitti and all, yes we got the same email with the same audition time! Dd is v excited! We think it's a good time, not too early or too late! We are really looking forward to our day in London too, you will have a super time staying for a few days.

  5. No don't do that!! The preliminary auditions (for all age groups) are held at the Royal Ballet Upper School in Covent Garden, Central London so you'll need a Central London hotel. Only the final auditions for the Lower School take place at White Lodge in Richmond Park. Good luck!

  6. Hi Happygirl, don't worry. When we applied three years ago I ended up phoning as I hadn't heard a fortnight before half term and was worried. The lovely lady on the phone reassured me and told me as my dd was what they classed as a 'rising 8' she was in the very last batch of auditionees on the very last day of auditions. Our letter arrived exactly two weeks before that date! Good luck! It's a great experience.

  7. Hi Nancy21, did Tring CBA get in touch with you regarding auditions or had you not applied yet? We applied a few weeks ago but haven't heard anything yet. I could not see a closing date on the website. Many thanks, Flora11

  8. It's SWL for my dd too for London centre. (Just got back from hols to find letter!) Does anyone know of any girls who are going to decline an MA offer for London? Wondering if there will actually be any movement on the SWL! Well done to all those with yeses.

  9. Hi Nancy21, my daughter auditioned in London on January 26th. It seems like a long time ago now! I thought they'd mentioned Easter but wasn't sure. Next week seems very soon though! What year is yr daughter? Mine is Year 6 at the mo, I think the MA classes are mixed year groups though. I'm sure there are forum members who know more. . .
