  1. Aussie ballet mum - looking forward to meeting your DD. MTB is going from strength to strength and we are looking forward to their summer school, last years was a huge success. Great opportunity for young dancers to see what it is like to be part of a production.

  2. I can confirm that this is correct. DD so excited. There are still a few places left, head on over to www.midlandtheatreballet.co.uk to download an application form and brochure. What a wonderful association for MTB too!! Wouldn't miss this for the world ????

  3. Wondered whether anyone could help. DD is on reserve list for Tring and when she auditioned she didn't take a musical instrument or sing, do you think this would have been marked against her as she really just is a "ballet girl" with a tiny but of modern chucked in!!

  4. Elmhurst have said they are not auditioning for years 9 and 10 at this audition (which is one of the years my friend's DC is going for).  She is completely left hanging….

    Hi Angel

We are on a waiting list and I was told this information this morning too.  Disappointing to say the least as this was never stated when we applied back at the beginning of December.

  5. Hi all, a couple of summer schools i know about are Midland Theatre Ballet (dates yet to be finalised, but keep checking their website) www.midlandtheatreballet.co.uk my DD attended this last year and is absolutely attending again this year.  They not only do full classes, rep, pas de deux work for the older children, and craft classes for the younger children too, culminating in a performance at the end of the week.  Non-residential but hotels are nearby, very reasonable cost too for a summer school.

Another one I know about and my DD is attending is www.opesballet.co.uk  This is a residential course, you can choose either one week or two weeks, Opes international summer Course is a chance for young dancers to work alongside ex professional dancers from some of the world's major ballet companies. The main genre's will be classical ballet, body conditioning, pilates, contemporary, repertoire and pas de deux. The course offers the choice of residential or day classes. It is an opportunity for none vocational pupils to experience what full time training involves. The venue is set in its own grounds with a performing arts centre.

    Hope this helps!

  6. My DD is in her second year of MTB and loves every minute.  The teaching is second to none, my DD has gained bags of confidence from this experience and we will absolutely be re-auditioning!  I would highly recommend to anyone who is considering.

From the website, the audition dates are January 26th and February 23rd.
