Appalling that this continues to happen. Its not the first time or isolated incidences.

Hi Lsbaker
My DD was with MTB for six years (is now at a vocational ballet school). The final audition is pretty much the same as the prelim. Some barre exercises, centre and a little mime taught by the class assistant.
If you need any more info, feel free to PM me xxxx

Not ballet... but a few years ago I went to see Les Mis with my mum and sister. Without spoiling it for anyone who doesn’t know the story, it gets a bit emotional towards the end and I certainly felt a tear beginning to silently well in my eye. Unfortunately the performance was overwhelming for a patron a few rows in front of us, who burst into tears and started sobbing quite loudly. I did feel for her, but it definitely broke the spell for much of the audience who promptly burst into giggles.
Saw Les Mis a couple of years ago (am a die hard fan) however the girl who was playing Fantine couldn’t pronounce her “r’s” so “I dweamed a dweam of time gone by” reduced me to tears.

Just discovered Tring ask for a solo for first audition. Anyone know how long it should be?
It is one minute and they are very strict about it. They will stop the music, it happened to a friend of my daughter. Hope this helps x

Hi, my daughter enjoyed it. She is 15 and felt she held her own. She also auditioned st Kate Simmons and gif idfered at both. She went back to Kate Simmons did a nursery audition and had been offered funding which we were surprised at. She has another in Feb so still deciding
My DD now at KS and it’s the best decision we made. She is so happy there, teaching and care is outstanding. Feels like an extended family which was important to us as DD a very young 16 (August baby!)

Moreexcited. ..the fees are for the whole year.
Does anybody know when the students will find out their roles? Do they have emails over the summer or have to wait until September? Thanks in advance.
Hoglett, they normally get given their roles on the first or second week back in an envelope. X

DD would love to do this but falls short two days before her 16th birthday and they are very strict on age entry. Next year hopefully! ??

Hi Willow
do you have this still available x

Emails have been sent. A couple of friends have received their results.

Many of you have followed my DD's journey along this rollercoaster of the ballet world and been so very supportive of all the no's for yr 7, 8 and beyond.
I am finally so happy and so very proud to announce that after selective choosing of sixth form auditions, DD has four offers. We never thought we would be in a position to be going to a ballet sixth form let alone having a choice.
We both owe so much to everyone that has supported us along this turbulent journey and have a positive message to all those who think that's it's the end when you get a no.
I am a great believer in things happening for a reason and when it's your time, then it's your time.
Thank you also to my balletcoforum family for the ongoing support.
Now the fun begins. ????????

Hi Willow
Yes please. Is this still available x

I can absolutely confirm that there have been some "no's" as my friends DD is one of them. They physically couldn't take everyone through or they'd have a cast of 200+
As for the groups, they are generally between 20-25 per age group (four groups).
Have nothing but praise for MTB my daughter improved hugely in her time with them.
Re: sitting around, this is generally when doing full run throughs leading up to the show which you would expect with any company preparing a full length ballet. My DD never complained, always taking in homework or some quiet entertainment.
Mumofthree feel free to message me if you want to chat.

Hi hoglett.
From what I remember last year they are split into four groups, normally age relevant. Level 1 age 7-9, level 2 age 10-11, level 3 age 12-14, level 4 age 15+. Although there also can be movement between the groups depending on ability too.
Hope that helps. The lady in the office is really helpful for any questions you have xx

First and foremost, they are children. Yes most are 16, but are still children. Unhelpful comments can be quite hurtful when having to deal with the fallout of the no's. Yes they have to get used to the unfairness of life, but as a parent I certainly would protect my DD until I am in the ground.
This forum is to support others through this rollercoaster of dance life our children are on, that's why I chose to become and will continue to look here for advice and maybe ignore the ridiculous with a rolled eye ????
Thank you to all those who do give wonderful advice xxx

Looking for a portable ballet barre for DD's bedroom.

Then I must have interpreted it incorrectly. Appreciate that everyone can audition but I'm sorry i don't agree with certain students not having to audition because the are a JA, MA or SA.
That's my opinion anyway.
Hope it goes well, I know Midas is very popular.

I'm sorry to say this but I think that's a bit unfair to all the very talented children who aren't in rbs or an associate programme for one reason or another. This is sending out the wrong message to prospective parents.

You are absolutely right. As one who has completed both exemption and full licences for children the info from your LEA is wrong. X
