  2. Watched "Sleeping Beauty" yesterday at cinema.

Really disappointed about Lilac Fairy. Ignoring the Solo that was not elegant, safe and precise I found Laura McCulloch no reassuring and warm as fairy. Bulky as presence.

Steven McRae is a real prince. I loved his performance. He has a wonderful technique and a prince charming. His jumps, his lines, his technical skill are a joy for the eyes.

Sarah Lamb is really nice as Aurora in the first and third act. But I didn't like her in the second act. Not so convincing and lyric. She was wimpy, dull, without any kind of pathos.

Lovely Yuhui Choe and Valentino Zucchetti as Princess Florine and Blue Bird.

Waiting for see Nela and Thiago performance. Can't wait!!

  3. I posted on the other thread about how much I enjoyed this performance. However, for me personally Natalia Osipova is Kitri. Marianela Nunez was indeed joyful but I did not think that she had the same "fire" as Osipova ( does anyone?).

I am sure this production has been a great success for the RB and I hope to attend a live performance next time, as this is one of my favourite ballets.

I don't understand why the people say Osipova is Kitri.
I find that Osipova is exaggerated and her way of interpreting Kitri is for me vulgar!!

Not to mention the movements technically inaccurate and without elegance.

Yes, when Osipova dances Kitri is always on fire...but we have to consider other aspects also, including what i wrote above.

Marianela has proven to interpret Kitri perfectly.
Her movements are always accurate. Her head, her arms and legs are surreal for perfection and precision! She does not miss a detail.
She knows when to smile, when to seduce, when be naughty or sweet.
    Everything is perfect.
And above all, I'm glad her dance and her art, admired around the world Wednesday evening, will be an inspiration for many people and young boys and girls.

  4. Not sure if that's a statement or a question, eliamato, but the dance awards part of the ceremony as broadcast on Sunday only showed a brief glimpse of Marienela shyly thanking everyone for her award - I almost missed her because she was nearly unrecognisable with  elaborably styled and darkened hair!  There was also mention of Christopher Wheeldon as the recipient of a choreographic award, but there wasn't even enough time to read the subtitled information on what the award was.  A shame they couldn't spare more time on both Marienela's and Christopher's awards.

    Yes it was a question.

    Sorry....My fault to pose question.

    And thanks for your answer.

Yes I've seen on streaming from Italy the ceremony. I noticed just a flash of Marianela speech.

It's a pity that they didn't give due importance to dance.
