Cherchez la femme !! Here comes the girl in..
At this point it can only be speculation what triggered the events, but the article on the Financial Times points out very well how the protagonists may be linked..

According to various newspapers all three arrested suspects have confessed.

With all due caution the name of Pawel Dimitrenko is mentioned by various newspapers as possible suspect.
Here is a link from RIA Novosti (in German) - similar report on Gazeta Wetscharnaja Moskwa in Russian

The Indipendent writes they think they got the "thrower", but not the mind behind that cruel attack...

Updates and interviews with SF like this one from German "Spiegelonline" - the headline says "I'm not going to hide my face" and SF reports about the progress he is making, that he is in a good, fighting mood and constantly in contact with the Bolshoi where "everybody is getting ready for Neumeier's Onegin due in June". He mentions 8 operations he already had (not clear whether 8 in total or 8 in Germany only) and further operations are ahead of him.

What are the chances that Osipova / Vasiliev will do all three performances of The Flames ? I'm wondering if it's worth the gamble and purchase tickets for the afternoon performance as well

Updates in German newspapers this morning like this one in Aachener Zeitung.
The hospital of Aachen reports success on the treatment of SFs left eye. As of after the surgery he will have regained usable eyesight which will allow him to get along in his daily routines. They were able to reconstruct largely the surface of his left eye - whatever that means in terms of ophthalmology. They are not in the position at this point to make any predictions regarding his right eye though. The corrosion on both eyes penetrated deep into the tissues.

Amazing - really good news about his status !!!

There are several reports on Russian newspapers that SF has been transferred to Aachen/ Germany for further treatment. The Bolshoi could not confirm (yet ?)...
This is an article on a Russian newspaper containing a song Filin's middle son has recorded for his dad

Another update with quotes from an interviewed performed on Sunday...
-
Wow, just been turned down by the Bayerische Staatsballet for the Mikhailovsky guest appearance in April !! Too many pre-orders, so they have been allocating tickets by random !!
-
A very emotional Zakharova sending a message of support... maybe someone with a better knowledge of Russian than myself can help translating..
-
I love his spirit - great to read the way he is dealing with this.... increases my optimism and I wish there was something we could do as well...

New quotes from Filin from Timeslive
"The Bolshoi Ballet’s artistic director told a Russian newspaper he had received threats for more than a month before a masked attacker threw acid in his face last week but his request for protection was rebuffed"
-
Here is an article from RIA (in German) which has some statements from Sergei Filin - I cannot find the article in the english version though, so here are the key statements:
- he thinks he should have informed all mass media before New Year's Eve about the threahts he was getting
- he was prepared to be exposed to decrials on the internet
- if this attack remains unsolved he will totally loose his trust in everything (anything ?)
- he tries to keep being optimistic. Sometimes he manages to see all fingers of a hand and his left eye is quiet ok - the acid was thrown from the right side and hit the right eye harder
- he is not scared about the impacts on his looks - what counts for him is his ability to think, to continue his work, his family and especially his sons
- he thinks he should have informed all mass media before New Year's Eve about the threahts he was getting

La Bayadere is really phantastic when danced by the Bolshoi imho - I've seen Zacharova / Tsiskaridze / Alexandrova and Vasiliev as the Bronze Idol. Felt like heaven - they can really display all their virtues in this one and every one from Nikia to the Corps members get their chance to shine
-
I also was considering not going - I could not stand the thought of applauding someone who might be involved in this...
Osipova / Vasiliev are supposed to dance Flames and no other ballet, right ?
-
-
I was also strangely touched by the statements associated to Tsiskaridze, but reading this article I think one has to be really carefull in making judgements. Obviously not all journalists write in the best of intentions...

There is a video on The Daily Mail from a short interview with Sergei Filin which was aired on REN TV... it has English subtitles
I hope it's ok to post the link in here
Bolshoi Ballet coming - summer 2013!!!

I also gave it some consideration prior to actually booking tickets for London. When SF was transferred to Germany for further treatment I sent an email to the Bolshoi wishing him well and letting them know how I felt about the horrible attack. I received a very friendly email back and they suggested they would find a way to let SF know about people writing in. So maybe letting them know people around the world still care and follow the investigations to get the guilty ones and to know the real story behind this attack will help them to introduce profound changes in their system of how they run the theater.
Reading the letter several dancers, musicians and other Russian people have signed I'm even more confused and unable to figure out what is going on.
