I might be in a bit of a pickle to go and get my DD from Elmhurst on Saturday with 2 DDs finishing a SS each at the same time but 200 miles from one another and only one car...

Would there be anyone going from the Guildford area with room in their car for me on the way up and for me, DD2 and luggage on the way down, willing to share the trip and the cost of course?

I'm not a 100% sure yet I'll need the lift but just in case... You can pm me if you want.

Hi Spacy, I think if I remember right that the girl my DD shared with last year was older than your DD is now so I don't think it was her but there was another French-English girl last year at the SS... My DD discovered her on the last day I think!

Glad your DD can enjoy the bits she can do and hope she feels better soon!

You can take POB off your list as your DD is too "old" for it. You have to be under 13 to audition...

All's good for DD2 there. She's happy with the classes and doesn't feel homesick.  Much better than last year!

Just to finish off on the subject of being abroad... I know that foreign students seem to get a lot of the places at RBS SSs and there has been many discussions in different threads on whys before... The talented dancers I was talking about and who didn't get a place were all from abroad actually... I simply hope you are not thinking that training abroad gets you a place more easily on principle...

For the rest of the discussion at having a second chance to apply, I agree with you that it would be nice but as you say, it's life!

I know how it's done Sadielou. My 3 DDs have applied at times. The one with the ballet body has been offered a place at WL three times and her sisters never... I know it sounds magic but when I saw the end of week show, the girls had amazingly similar and good levels (only the girls though). I also know of fantastic dancers being turned down, my eldest DD being one, but the all had the "wrong" body for RBS (too tall, too long a torso,etc.). The expert eye can do so much with pictures I agree but it doesn't make it a lottery!

I really don't think that getting in RBS SS is a lottery.

That must be a new addition on the WL summer school form then ... to considered for the school, as I don't ever recall seeing that on any of the forms.

So far our kids could all be dancing together this week! :-)

More or less the same age as my DD as she's nearly 15! They might be in the same PdD group... Yes she also said about Musical Theatre... And was very happy about it! 

How old are your boys cotes du Rhone and tutugirl?

I think boys are always in groups G and H but they do join the girls for some classes...

DD2 dropped but I missed everybody as we arrived a few minutes before 5!!! Terrible traffic on the M25 again!! 

Anyway, I hope to catch up on Saturday!

I seem to remember that they had one in their common room. I'll have to ask DD tonight when she finishes her SS day... When is the NB SS this year?

Hi Miracle, yes she did as some full time students were there to help and the faculty was the year long one.

They were splits in different levels after their first ballet class. 3 levels I think. DD was put in the top level even though she doesn't do RAD. There were all tested there and then...
