Dd really enjoyed Harpenden when she went 2 years ago but we really need resudential.
She has enjoyed & felt she gained a lot from summer & easter courses at Moorland School & is really looking forward to OPES this year.
What week is your DD going PITF?
-
I'd also recommend OPES.

We thought the same either the last Indian Dancer or Connor stand a chance. However I think we are in for a treat next Friday!

I loved the South East Asian Dance Finals, such amazing beautiful technique. The winners' duet was just stunning. Bring on next week though I can't wait! I wish this was done over a week to keep up the momentum!

I love all genres of dance but I have to say I wasn't in awe of any of the hip hop/street dancers. I also found them a bit samey and I agree the camera work was dreadful so we did miss a lot of the intricate work. I can't see them reaching the top three in the final. Can't wait for next week it should be fabulous!

Looking at it with a silver lining if she is upset it is because it means a lot to her! You will see along your DD dancing journey many little ones who might pip your DD at exams next year or the year after but what matters is hard work, love of dance, dedication and heaps of grit! If it means that much to her she will leave all the other ones standing and she will sky rocket!

I agree with previous comments Muntagirov and Takada are not a great match! I thought it was just me!

And Tamara Rojo is not too keen on how children are brought up,though I am not sure if she just means ballet students.............................
What about a childhood?

Hi Mae989, congratulations to your DD - my DD is currently boarding in year 7 at the Hammond and absolutely loves it - any questions, feel free to shout!
Mine DD is in year 8 and is doing really well. You'll love the school but the boarding takes a while to adjust as it is 'lacking' however the house parents and teachers are wonderful and caring which is the most important thing!

She did a special class at Midland Theatre Ballet last year and she was amazing. She didn't seem to be afraid to push the children and make it interesting for them.

The formatting is still all over the place. I suspect they are still working on the Mac problem but android is now fixed.

My daughter got her work sent through to her school very late after Easter I think. I don't think you should worry too much about the school work they are looking for talents in dance and MT. If she/he goes to The Hammond they do take work seriously once they are there and the teaching so far has been very good.

Does anyone know why more MDS are offered to RB and Elmhurst by the government?

The funding thing is just so frustrating it just can't be right! 9 MDS places for one of the World's top performing arts schools is just so wrong! How can the average family afford 33k a year and this is net income!

I totally agree, one audition doesn't mean you are going to be a ballerina or not be a ballerina. Children develop at such different ages and four no's at the year 7 or 8 stage doesn't mean four no later on.

I also find it very hard. That overwhelming joy of seeing them on the Friday very quickly turns into that cloud of angst as you start packing away their washing on Sunday morning. I woke up this morning very early and for a split second I thought she was still at home in bed

I'm wondering what RAD and ISTD Modern level are equivalent to a GCSE?
-
good luck to all those auditioning today

I just think it isn't working anymore as we cannot access ours at all on the ipad.

I've recently bought the Intermediate exam syllabus which originally downloaded. We had to delete it but when we tried to re-load it it said the internet connection wasn't strong enough which just isn't true as we have a very fast system and can download films etc. We've tried the usual re-loading, managing storage space etc but no luck. Is anyone else having trouble?

At vocational school children don't usually start contemporary until roughly 14 plus sometimes much later. I think they like a good sound understanding of ballet and modern before they move on to other styles. My opinion of contemporary is that it similar to pointe shoes you just have to wait and do your time.

DD has two pairs of Gaynors but she finds they are now not strong enough for her feet so has gone back to Bloch. Her teacher has told her she can't wear them for her RAD exams though so that might be a consideration(?).
