  1. Hi, My daughter attended the wells ballet masterclass at Christmas and were wondering if anyone had been to Dar danse in Morocco on their Wells away summer course? Would be interested in hearing what anyone thought about it?

Hi Bunhead99 my DD went to Wells Away in Morocco last summer and loved every minute of her time there. Feel free to ask me any questions and I'll try and answer them for you. LTD

  2. When my DD was accepted into White Lodge, her teacher let her call me during school time so that I could open the 'yes' letter and let her know the result. At the end of year assembly, the headmaster asked her to dance her ballet solo for the whole school and parents. This primary school still says alongside the year 6 grammar school places achieved, that they had a student accepted to The Royal Ballet School. They certainly made my DD feel very special.

  3. Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong forum, but I thought this would be of interest to parents and DC's who are auditioning for Upper Schools. This will give you an insight in to life at ENBS.  The live stream starts at 5pm GMT and is for 90 minutes.  You will be able to see 1st, 2nd and 3rd years.  From study, pilates, PDD, barre and choreography.  Here is the link if you would like to watch http://www.artstreamingtv.com/event.php?id=4

    Enjoy LTD  :)

  4. The only students at ENBS that are older than the year group, are the students who have been asked to repeat a year due to injury etc.  RBS and ENBS will take students a year younger than the rest of their year group, but I have never heard of a student who is older, being offered a place for a lower year.  I hope this helps and also makes sense  :)

  5. Purely practical on auditons....

... Soft blocks or canvas pumps for auditions?!! Advice please :) haven't had any experience with soft blocks but just something DD mentioned following summer school .....

.... Solos .... Pre warned is pre armed (!) can anyone say if any schools definitely require a solo for first round auditions ?

I'm sure my list will grow and these 2 might be the least of my worries in a couple of weeks time!!!

Thank you everyone for your patience with "audition newbies" .

When my DD auditioned for RBS, ENBS and Elmhurst she wore soft blocks and pointe shoes and was not required to perform a solo.  This was for prelims and finals.  Sorry I can't help you with other schools.

  6. I have a question about what help DC get from houseparents? Are they left alone to do their homework, pack their bags, remember about all project they need to work on, remember what time to be somewhere etc. Of course they all should be independent and responsible but it might be hard at the beginning, especially if they are DC with "artistic personalities", deep in their thoughts, not down to earth... ( that's my DD :-) ).

At WL all students go back into the classroom for an hour prep each evening during the week to do their homework, with a house parent supervising.  They should pack their own bags, however some students do leave this for their parents to do when they get their at the end of half term or term, but they soon learn that this means they get home later.  As far as timetables, at WL this is the students responsibility to get to classes on time and meetings.
