I don't think you can get the student photo Oyster card which gives you free bus travel and reduced tube fares until the start of the London area school term. That's what we were told a couple of years ago, when I tried to do it before the start of term. Once they've got their card, the following year, it doesn't expire until the end of September. This gives you time to sort it out at the start of the new term. LTD

Hi tabitha. Yes they have to be renewed each year in person, same as you did the first time. It's a pain, but like you say ENBS help all the students to renew this each year and also with registering with a local GP. it certainly took the headache away from me. LTD

My DD's first Oyster card for a London resident, couldn't be done online, only in person and with an authorisation signature and stamp from the school. ENBS help all new students during their first week, to sort it out. You can apply online, but those Oyster cards do not get your DC free bus travel as a student. I hope that makes sense. LTD

Has your daughter gone with friends living the dream? If she is on her own I am sure my daughter would introduce her to her friends.
Hi Tulip
She has gone with a few friends from ENBS and know a few people from other vocational schools, but I am sure that she will meet your DD. I hope they all have a fantastic time. I can't wait to hear all about their first day later. Thank goodness for wifi and WhatsApp

Hi everyone,
My DS is going to summer school at Whitelodge this year and we would like to get him a mobile phone for when he is there. In our pack it says this is fine but the signal is not great in the park. Just wondering if anyone already staying there knows which network has best reception?
I know he can use the payphone but we'd like to send him quick texts rather then him having to worry about getting money from the office to call all the time.
Thanks in advance.
Hello enpointe75, when my DD was at WL, her mobile network was Orange (EE). Sometimes it was great, but most of the time all networks only worked when they were outside in the garden. They have installed a mobile booster, but it hasn't made a lot of difference. LTD

Firstly sorry to the moderators, if I have put this in the wrong place. I am not from the school, I am a parent of a DD studying there.
Please support the talented students of English National Ballet School in their end of year performances on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th July 2014 at the New Wimbledon Theatre and celebrate their 25th year anniversary. Last year the attendance was not full and it's such a shame when they are all worked so hard.
Myself and other forum members either have DC's studying at ENBS or have DC's that will be starting in September. It will also give other parents the opportunity of seeing the incredible standard of teaching, if you are considering auditioning for this school.
Here is the link for tickets: http://www.atgtickets.com/shows/25th-anniversary-summer-performances/new-wimbledon-theatre/
Thank you LTD

Quick question, hope someone can answer please as I can't find this info on the DADA thread.
When asked to supply financial information when applying for a DADA, which of the previous above date ranges do they want?
If you are applying for a DaDA for a September 2014 start, then they want tax year information 1st April 2013 to 31st March 2014. Hope this helps.

Do you know if it is calculated on income before tax or after tax? I guess 'household income' is after tax and NI but not seen a definitive answer on this I don't think. Thanks
They calculate on your gross income i.e. before tax and NI contributions

Anyone know what ENB are ? Sorry I've posted this on two different threads x
I've posted about ENBS above but my DD is in the old system DaDA. Basically if you are not offered a DaDA, you pay full fees. There are no student loans available for this school.

At ENBS the international students have to have a UK contact, as they have to put these details on their contact information form. Although they do not have to live with them.

Fabulous pictures as always John

Have you tried Bloch shop. Their delivery is next day, but you might have missed the deadline for today. Here's the website http://www.blochshop.co.uk/product/bloch-aspiration-ballet-pointe-shoes

I can't comment on the new DaDA as my DD is on the old system. I pay £1,275 per year contribution to fees plus London accommodation approx £9,000 per year plus weekly spending allowance, tube fares(busses are free), private medical insurance, uniform approx £300 per year, pointe shoes approx £400 per term if not more, plus tights, animal wool, toe tape, mobile phone contract and contact lenses. Also fuel costs at end of term, train fares for home visits, hotels to see performances. The list of expenses goes on and on. I daren't add it all up or I would have a heart attack. I should have married a millionaire LTD

My daughter would love to be accepted. The teachers were very professional during the auditions, she had to do also a small interview and to see the doctor.
Do you know for boarding how is it work? The students stay in the same building or are in different boarding houses?
There are no boarding houses at ENBS. You have to find your own accommodation. The majority of the girls stay in an all girls hostel in South Kensington and the boys tend to have their own flats as there are not many hostels that take boys under the age of 18. If your DD is accepted, the school will send you a list of recommended accommodation or feel free to PM me for details. Wishing your DD good luck and all the other DC's waiting for ENBS results good luck. It's a fantastic school. LTD

You need to check with the vocational school he will be going to, because when my DD was accepted to WL we had to get permission from RBS press office first. Hope this helps and congratulations to your DS. LTD
