  1. Hi everyone, before I go ahead and order all uniform (dance and academic) from the suppliers, could you tell me which items I could source for myself elsewhere at a cheaper price? ie are m&s school shirts suitable and cheaper than the supplier, and is the grey skirt a specific style?

  2. Thanks for all the tips guys, we have just sorted the paperwork to accept our bursary and sent it this morning so we won't get all school info just yet as it's half term , could someone possibly send me the uniform list needed for yr9 so I can get organised please.  ;)

  3. Thanks for the info, our dd would be starting in yr9(still deciding whether to accept bursary and live like paupers!) so that will be a challenge in itself as friendship groups will already be formed and dd is a quiet child until she knows people well. Has anyone else's dc started in yr9?

  4. You say phones are handed in on an evening, but do the children have enough opportunities to ring home when they want before then. I know when my dd goes to summer schools just being able to hear my voice gives her reassurance although I wwould be very happy for her to get over that!

  5. We have been offered a 50% bursary, just need to decide if we can realistically afford the rest of the fees with the help from grandparents! and whether it's actually worth accepting and giving up dd's excellent local school and 2 associate programmes she attends?? I hate making life changing decisions!

  6. Hope the Elmhurst audition went well for everyone today. Now the wait! What happens next, is the final audition just to decide funding or is it still to decide on places? Can anyone shed any light on what it says in the letter for those that had their auditions earlier this month? ThNks

Hi balletqueen, my dd auditioned today and had a great time. I asked about funding and was told the finals are to decide who they want to offer places to, but it would be good to hear what's in the letter of those who have received theirs.

  7. Thank you for the replies, it makes more sense now. My dd is applying for year 9 and wanted to know how much pointe they do as she currently has a 45 minute pointe class at her school which she loves doing as she loves classical work over modern/jazz dance.

  8. My dd was at Hammond yesterday too and had a great day, she doesn't seem bothered about the bus to the school or the condition of the boarding house, as I was thinking "this place needs a lick of paint and is a bit run down" DD was saying "it looks cosy here and I like it!" . I did get a little confused about funding as it was mentioned that only up to 50% funding can be offered? Also when I asked about the number of hours of dance they do and specifically pointe the women told me she didn't know about the timetable? Can anyone give me an idea of hours please and how much of each dance style they do?
