Does anyone yet know which performances will be danced by Nicholas le Riche?

I absolutely loved this evening. I've seen Decoufle's earlier company twice - and was thrilled to see the 'microbes in flippers' number again. It's so hard to describe the performance - and I imagine it's one of those things you either love or loathe. But once in a while it's great to see something beautifully performed and totally surreal!

If you are interested in the history of ballet, Tamara Karsavina's autobiography 'Theatre Street' is fascinating.

I have been following this thread with interest and amusement, thinking how lucky I have been in more than sixty years of theatre going not to have encountered much in the way of bad behaviour. And then, last Thursday at Sadlers Wells for the BRB triple bill, there were three young girls just behind me in the Lower Amphi who came back after the second interval with what seemed to be hot, silver-wrapped sandwiches that stank of onions. Not the perfect accompaniment to The Dream, completely destroyed any atmosphere created by the excellent performers. A whole new experience that I could well have done without!

Not ballet - and DVD acquired via Amazon France - Le Roi Danse - about Louis XIV and Lully - quite a bit of baroque dance and the most fantastic costumes. Directed by the same man who made the film about the castrato singer Farinelli.

I'd like to put in a word for House of Birds - saw it in the 60s and have always wanted to see it again.

re Jenny Gilbert's byline: it's there loud and clear on my copy (also in the South East).

And I see that Luigi Bonino is to dance Coppelius - which will give Polunin some competition, even if not quite the overpowering competition of Petit himself. I remember viviidly seeing Petit dance the role at the Coliseum the last time the Ballet de Marseille came quite a few years ago.

I went to see this at the Albert Hall on Friday - and left at the interval. So disappointing - really mediocre choreography compared with what is now being done for ice dance.
I think my expectations of something that might be special had been over-raised by the Acrobatic Swan Lake.

Dear Anjuli
For those of us, like me, not on Facebook, is there any other way of seeing the paintings?

With Tony Hall leaving, who next at the ROH?

Dear Ian
What are vomitories? Should I be glad they were installed in 1964?!!!
