  1. tutoo2much i feel like you do and my ds hasnt even gone to vocational school yet! I feel very cynical about the dancing world, is it the path to happiness! To be told constantly that you're not good enough and be constantly compared to other children!! They have to smile and be happy with this! Will they get work and earn money at the end of it all, thats the question!!!! I am already dreading September and we've only had the YES letter for 3 weeks!! He is happy about it all and looking forward to going!! I want to get off this rollercoaster already, but it's too late for me now!!!!
  2. My dd started at 3years old and although she did ballet, modern, tap, jazz etc, she was never on the JA circuit and neither were any of the others dancers at her studio at that time. We moved to another dance studio when she was 12, where being a JA and ballet was the main aim for many of the dancers there! Her younger brother started at this studio and became a JA with a passion for ballet and sure enough auditioning and 'going away' reared its 'ugly' head! He is now 11 and has successfully gained a place at ballet school! My experience as a parent with both of my dancing chldren has been completely different! Only time will tell wether going away or not is right!
  3. so lisadebs where did your dd choose?
  4. I agree with that, i cant imagine any parent allowing that! My ds had 2 more finals next week, we not going, he got the one he wanted!! Give someone else a chance! I lost the will to live these past few months with all this auditioning rubbish! I did it because he loves to dance with a passion, now we can both relax thank god!!!!!!!
  5. Why would parents put their children through this very stressful and expensive process just to see if they can get in. This is dancing mothers at there worst! What happens when they open those letters with a big fat Yes and you say oh sorry little daisy you''re not really going!!! Dont get it!
  6. I think its more about playing the game. After all WL assess out every year and if you've been seen by Elmhurst then they might just remember you.I thought the ultimate prize for any ballerina was RBS why would you audition there, get offered a place and turn it down?
  7. Is there a waiting list for Elmhurst? I know of 3 children offered places for Elmhurst that are going to accept places at WL.
  8. We only know of 1 girl for a year 7 place at Elmhurst, but she has decided to go to WL. Seems to be a lot of nos for the girls!
  9. Hello this is my first posting. My ds had a yes from Elmhurst today and so did his friend another ds.
