  1. Hi moomin

When I sit in frog it's very good and my box splits is quite good without any excersize, great if I stretch over a month or so.The problem is when standing at a bar!my first position is about 90% and my 5th is just not worth talking about.when doing grande plié my turnout looks very good with my knees facing the sides.I just can't stand in positions!! So annoyed!

  2. I am approaching 40 and would love to start ballet classes again soon.I haven't taken a real class for 20 years. My flexibility, posture, arms, coordination are still roughly the same. My major problem is turn out,it is completely non existent! When I was young it was quite good but now it just don't work!

In fact it is terrible! My question is,will it get better over time or is it to late to change?

  3. How does the year 7 audition start?do they start with a bar or something else?do they let them warm up before?what excersizes do they do in the centre?do they have to hold the stretching for a long while?what's the most demanding thing they ask for?are they allowed to touch the students? for example checking feet or flexibility.

Just a few questions that I thought people might be interested to know.

  4. im not a great writer but i have to tell this great story.

This summer my dds ballet teacher took a break for a month and a lovely mature lady stood in for the lessons.

After one of the lessons we got talking and when she found out i was British she started telling me  how she

became the first ever Turkish girl to gain a full scholarship to attend the Royal Ballet School in London.

Here is one of the stories

In 1948 Dame Ninette De Valois opened the first ballet school in Turkey. My dds teacher was only about 5 when she gained a place in the school and had never seen ballet before, neither had any of the other students who were chosen.

When the students were in their teens the school decided to put on Swan Lake but didnt have any principle dancers for the main roles. Margot Fonteyn and another male star where asked to dance the parts.

My dds teacher and her best friend were the 1st soloists.Their teacher who was British was extremely strict  and warned them that when they take a bow at the end,not to dare stand in the same line as Magot Fonteyn or they would be beaten!!

Anyway,as the performance ended the teachers were in the wings watching, and the girls stayed a row behind Magot Fonteyn and her partner. All of a sudden Magot and her partner looked behind them and took the girls hands for a bow at the front!

The teacher was so mad she came on stage and pulled her to the wings and started  beating her!Magot Fonteyn looked to the wing and saw what was happening and went to pull her back on stage.Neither of them would let go of her arms and she was half on and half off the stage!Well, she new she was going to be in big trouble so she pushed her teacher away and went on stage and  took a very long bow with Margot Fonteyn!

    Hope you enjoyed!

Oh, just tried to go into the website but its not letting me!hope theres no problem?will try tomorrow.

  6. I suppose a good adviser would be handy for looking for schools abroad.Maybe a DVD could be made and the adviser could apply to lots of schools abroad that suited the student and the school.I would love to know about more training abroad and then have someone to do all the paper work for me.Not for the English schools though, I think I could manage that!

  7. Thanks for the videos i really enjoyed watching them and it has helped me alot as i might be making one soon for my dd.I have posted videos of my dd on here and she is under 14!She has given consent and they are public on youtube so for me i cant see that there is any difference watching here or on youtube.

  8. Billyelliott, my dd is the same!she about level 6 violin. We seem to fit everything in fine.she also plays piano, singing, gymnastics, swimming along with all the dance.I promise that it has nothing to do with me,she makes her own mind up and is so focused at what she is good at and likes. So you can have your cake and eat it!for now anyway.
