Not sure whether I totally agree... At the last audition the 6 girls pulled forward all carried out the steps with ease (with no double pirouette!!) I think what my dd stood out with was her love of dance which never fails to show, her stage craft as she treats the audition like a performance from the moment she walks on to the stage... They said they were looking for someone who stands out from the rest and had good performance/musicality/presentation... Lastly she smiled I hope this helps?

Yeah they select usually 6 at the end of the audition... They then do another 4/6 things before Miss Lewis picks her winners

My dd has done 3 EYB junior auditions now... Each have been different you can't predict what will be done!! She has been pulled forward for the scholarship twice now and won it both times, each time she has done different things. The children pulled forward for scholarship selection usually do something more technical
Have fun we always do!

Yeah thanks celb for a very inspiring story although I have already told my dd that's it now till 6th form... The whole experience is too costly, I have to take leave of absence from work and the whole stress and trauma is too much to go through every year

Going away to vocational school at 11???

Wow not sure where to start... a lot of reading and very valid points, yes I am probably guilty of being caught up on the auditions roller coaster and maybe thought the audition process would be very good experience for her!!
We are very much a family and most certainly won't be selling anything to fund a place, I have an older ds (not ballet) who has no intention of going away. Dad just doesn't believe children should go away at 11 and doesn't want anyone else bringing her up, I agree with some of his concerns but I try to see the bigger picture and wonder if we stop her will she able to be at a standard at 16 to apply for 6th form?
I am trying hard to see both points of view but feeling very guilty for allowing her to audition knowing dad wasn't keen!!!
