Emeralds
I was sent an offer for discounts on tickets to this annual showcase by the young singers on the scheme. Tickets in all available areas are reduced to £25 each except for box seats which aren’t eligible, meaning some tickets eg Stalls, Grand Tier are 50% off or thereabouts, for unrestricted views, which is extremely generous. You can book multiple tickets eg for a group of four or even six, if you and family/friends are free to attend. This year’s singers are : SOPRANO- Sarah Dufresne MEZZO-SOPRANO- Gabrielė Kupšytė TENOR- Michael Gibson BARITONE- Josef Jeongmeen Ahn They will be performing on the main stage with the ROH Orchestra, conducted by the three young conductors on the scheme. PROGRAMME Vincenzo Bellini (1801 – 1835) I Capuleti e i Montecchi (Act II, sc. 8 'scena e duetto', with suggested traditional cuts) Ambroise Thomas (1811 – 1896) Hamlet (Act I, no.2 'scène et duo') Jules Massenet (1842 – 1912) Werther (Act III, sc.1 'Air des lettres') Pietro Mascagni (1863 – 1945) L’amico Fritz (Act II, sc.2 'Cherry duet') INTERVAL Gioachino Rossini (1792 – 1868) Il barbiere di Siviglia (Act I, sc.9 'recit e duetto') Igor Stravinsky (1882 – 1971) The Rake’s Progress (Act I, sc.3) Georges Bizet (1838 – 1875) Les pecheurs de perles (Act III 'aria Zurga') Gaetano Donizetti (1797 – 1848) L’elisir d’amore (Act I, sc.7-9 'scena, duetto e terzetto') The discounts and programme look really, really great, but unfortunately being on an RMT rail strike day, I won’t be able to get there. Posting here so that fellow members not reliant on trains or who are around in London on 22 July might like to go instead. I’ve heard and seen all the JP singers this season and they are all superb. To book, type the code into the promotional code box just before you select your seats, and the discounted prices will show up next to the full price. The code is: JPASUMMER25
