  1. My DD has just turned 16 and is new to boarding, vocational school and is miles from home.  Leaving her was one of the toughest things I've ever had to do.  However, when I'm struggling I remind myself that she has worked so hard for this for so many years and I know she is living her dream!  She had a wobbly first couple of days and is now settling in well but is very keen for a trip home.  My very ltttle 10 year old son has travelled worldwide with football commitments and the advice we have always been given is not to go home for at least three weeks.  He isn't even allowed a telephone call when he's away!  We are not being that strict with DD, I couldn't stand it !  I just keep everything really positive on the phone.  Face Time is brilliant as I can see that she is genuinely happy and not just trying to make me feel better  ;)  We just need to remind all our talented and hard working young people why they are there and no matter where they might be now or in the future, home is always home and family is always there for them.

I'm sure the weeks will fly by and it will be exeat and half term before we know it!  Good luck everyone.

  2. We've driven back and forth too, spent 4 hours a day driving which was hard work!

DD has had a fantastic week thought her feet are very sore from all the pointe work. Today she was very flattered when they asked her to join the associate programme, she'd love to but really don't think we can fit it in. Not enough Sundays in a month!

How lovely to receive an offer.  Shame you can't fit it in.  PM me if you change your mind.  We may be able to lift share it that helps at all with your decision.  Eldest DD's feet and pretty battered and bruised this week and she is quite used to pointe work.  Shes off to vocational school in September so she needs to get used to it

  3. Hi Loulabelle

I have daughers on courses 3 & 4 and both are also associates.  Its a brilliant summer school, they really work them hard but also have a fantastic rapport with the students.

We've been driving quite some distance backwards and forwards everyday.  Its a long week and they (and I) are exhausted by the end of the week but they love it and really do gain so much from the experience.

Sadly I can't watch tomorrow otherwise I would have said 'hi' but enjoy the show :D

  4. kcoom75, hang in there!  My daughter was offered a DaDa at Hammond and we were given until 25th April to accept or not.  Waiting lists should therefore start moving soon.

    Wishing you both every success.

  5. A proud Mummy here too!  My daughter has a DaDa offer.  Hammond was her first choice school so she will be over the moon!  The past three months have been the most stressful and nerve wracking of my life, so thinking of everyone on the waiting list who have a few more uncertain weeks ahead of them.  I am sure there will be a lot of movement on funding lists over the following weeks and I sincerely hope you all get the outcomes you are wishing for.
