  1. Its very young to worry about it, and very young to worry about not getting an associates place. She'll grow and learn and you may find she grows out of it with a little confidence. If its the same in a few years, I do recommend explaining it to her; its not that shes doing anthing wrong... just another skill to work on. My dd was/is also a shy one.

  2. How lovely, always nice to hear enthusiasm from little ones. It sounds as if you are already doing everything, I dont think theres anything else to do at that age, except listen and encourage. Have you seen the Ella Bella story books? My dd used to love those. I teach little ones and in my experience its best to just let it flourish slowly and naturally, otherwise, just let it be. Too much too early can (occasionally) spoil the enjoyment. Wonderful that she has found something to inspire her imagination.

  3. I know children who travel in from quite a distance, South Coast for example. My own dd has 1 hour journey door to door, shes done it for 5 years quite happily no issues, they all become very streetwise and self sufficient.  There are some homestay options, but this does vary each year and cant be guaranteed, best to talk to them about how that works. Happy to answer any questions about the school.

My daughter is a RBS junior associate and got a place on the waitlist for the summer intensive assuming chances of her getting of the waitlist are slim so looking for other possible summer courses she's 10 so she's not older enough for enb or brb courses. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Or  places to look at?

I've seen London vocational ballet school do a course does anyone know anything about them? What are their courses are like? Many thanks

LVBS courses are wonderful, great teachers, some well known guest teachers. I think its particularly good for the younger ones, but older ones get lots out of them too. Its always fun and a lovely caring environment.

waitlist offer came through for US intensive today.

Can anyone tell me how long the days are at the US? Shes a day student so wondering what time she'll be likely to finish/start each day.

Also, does anyone know if they are required to dance over the middle weekend?

  6. Does anyone know where to get hold of a recording of the black swan variation which is not too fast? dd is doing this one and the only ones I can find are on Itunes and all really fast! The Royals version is a good speed but I cant find a recording of this. It can be CD or otherwise.

  7. Hi Maura, my dd is on waiting list for upper school, shes been on the WL waiting list 3 years in a row but never got a place..... so were not expecting to this year! I do know dancers who have got places for WL from the waiting list though, so it is possible. If its a 'no' they do say its a 'no'.

If anyone knows anything about US waiting list I'd be interested?

    Hi all,

I need some advice. we might be needing to hire a tutu. amazingly DD has got all the way to last year of training without ever wearing a "proper" tutu. Yes we have a black bloch practice (its not great sticks out far too much) and a white practice one too....but she's never needed one for a competition. Until now 😉

Any names of shops hiring competition standard or second hand selling shops/groups would be really appreciated.

    Thanks!

Just Ballet hire out some beautiful tutu's

In the initial email for yr10 finals (where they just tell you dates, but no finer details) it said  ‘there will be a 1st round and if selected, a call back day’

I’m guessing it would be very obvious from the semi final results email they have sent out.  I would hazard a guess and say Upper school finalists are at both days - especially as there will be so many of them to look at.

    thank you @WhereToNow

Is there any possibility of the results being emailed over the weekend, or are we assuming it may be Monday at the earliest at this point?

I dont think its likely. Based on previous SI related emails, its always a weekday.  Trying to forget about it till Monday!

I had in my head Feb 5, but clearly that has come and gone.  I’m still hoping this week as we have decisions to make. Saw somewhere else that due to large number of applications that it might take a bit longer.

They also said the same last year
