At least they do not have to adjust to different partners which must make rehearsals easier.  But it can't be great for the muscles, lungs and skeleton to spend so much time cramped in planes before such arduous exercise.

From their Insta posts when they were travelling in the summer, it seemed as if they were being flown out business/first class, they had their own little compartments in the plane. Also, as the company have requested them/flown them out and met them at the airport with a car, I imagine they flew them over pretty well and didn't give them a cramped seat.

I'd imagine they would want to show them a lovely time, they seem excited to have them.

Prompted by one such Instagram post, I’ve just been on line to buy ‘an extra’.

I simply cannot believe that the performance I was booking for had over 200 seats still not taken.

And that's exactly the problem, the more people with eyes on it the more sales they'll get, and SM is a cheap way to promote it and they're just not and there's so many dates with so many tickets left, you could have your pick of seats at a lot of them.

But they want to promote coffee? Maybe it's a larger profit margin for them and that's where they want to focus from now on...

With hundreds of tickets for Don Q still unsold and an amazing evening like last night to capitalise on, I see that the ROH’s IG post today is about …… yes, you’ve guessed it, coffee 😨

It reminds me of a comment on the thread about the Orchestra: that without the performers, the ROH would simply be a large cafeteria. If that isn’t to be it’s fate, they need to get their various departments working with the same artistic priorities in mind.

It's really quite unbelievable, isn't it? It seems the dancers themselves are better at selling it via their personal Instagram accounts than the company.

They should be sharing the fan reactions as other productions do, but nope.

Agree but last night’s performance (and audience) was so very special that it needed to be bottled and kept for all time.

I was thinking the same thing, what a shame it couldn't have been filmed, or even the impossible that our brains couldn't record it moment for moment.

It's something that just cannot be replicated because truly it was magic seeing the stage feed off of the audience and the audience respond to the dancers. I'll never forget it.

I was so inspired by all the reviews here that I've just snagged one of the last tickets to a Nunez/Muntagirov performance of DQ. I nearly bought one for last night,  as I was at ROH for the rehearsal, but because of the train strike, I didn't want to be driving home late at night from a tube station 30 minutes away from home. That means DQ on 14th October and then again on 16th. Then more in November. I loved DQ at the rehearsal so much, that I am really excited to see a number of performances.  I will be hiding my Mastercard bill from Mr Linnzi . . . 😱 I actually went paperless (I wanted to be environmentally friendly too, to be fair) so he couldn't actually SEE how I was spending our money. 😳🤫

If it's anything like last night you will not be sorry.

Too much speculation here, I'm afraid.

    1) we don't know whether the dancers have had their pre-Covid pay restored; for all we know, they might also (through Equity) be in ongoing negotiations with the ROH over that;

    2) we don't know whether or not the dancers have indicated any collective support for the orchestra; and

    3) we don't know what the contingency plans are or what performance options there might be in the event of a strike by the orchestra.

In the meantime all anyone outside the situation can do is to show support for the orchestra, if they are minded to do so, .

It is what it is, I suppose.

  7. Just to add to the praise, I was there last night and it has to be one of the most enjoyable ballets.

Emeralds leads you in gently, Rubies is so much fun and then Diamonds is just so rich and luxurious, it was a delight.

Have to say, the company as a whole were in fine form, especially, when they would all come together, not a foot out of place, everything was so tight and not just that, they seemed to be dancing with sheer joy.

    It was a real treat.

Absolutely, and thank you for the tip. However, when coordinating booking for a group (which I usually do), it can be very helpful to have 2 sets of tickets in my basket for about 20 mins to double-check that everyone is happy. Or putting a semi-expensive seated ticket in the basket while checking whether there's the option of SCS if I booked on that cast's other date... When the website *does* work as it should, it can be very handy for these situations!

Oh god, yeah that's when it's beneficial. I don't think I could deal with the stress of booking and having to check with others and go back and forth. You have my respect and I imagine the website really needs to be working in every way for you to successfully get through it all.

  9. I don't know if this helps anyone, but I check out separately. I have different windows open for each performance and then go through them separately.

At least if there's a problem at the end it won't affect all of the tickets, you might be lucky with them all, or unlucky with one. But all of them in a basket together means if it all goes wrong you have to start all over again.

That's just what I've found and have had no issues.

Question: I would really like to see Marianela in Don Quixote and wanted to sit at front of grand tier ideally but no such seats are available for any of her performances. I have a gift certificate to use and this will be a one off as I’d never usually sit in the expensive seats. I have just seen there is a front, central balcony available for £125. Question is would I be best to buy this seat? or wait in the hope of a row A return for the grand tier - or just save the certificate for an expensive seat to see her at a later date? Decisions decisions. Any advice would be very gratefully received.

You could always buy the seat now and keep looking and then return that one if you're not happy to keep it/would prefer the grand tier seat? At least if you buy it you know you have that option.

  11. The only problem I had was when I went to basket it was empty a couple of times, but I'm guessing that was the tickets being sold before I checked them out? I'm not sure.

Otherwise very smooth, and was over the moon to find my favourite seats in the stalls circle available for Don Q 30th, so quickly snatched them up. Also the same ones for Nutcracker Fumi/Bracewell, so the gods were smiling down on me

Some nice bookings, cannot wait for Natalia and Marci's Don Q, imagine that'll be fireworks.

The only thing not happy is my bank balance...

Yes, it looks a great initiative. Far easier and quicker than emailing the Box Office, and quick with your credit as well, according to Lynette H, which is great. Useful for me as well as I logged into my account to check it out and found I had no upcoming event which wasn't true as I'd booked several Don Qs. So I emailed the Friends and they sorted it and I was able to see the new facility for myself. Just for curiosity I clicked on the Champagne and ice cream option. Ice cream is now £4 and the make seems to have changed again, though according to the picture they still do stem ginger which I like. Champagne is £16 a glass!! Lucky I don't like it. So an extra £20 for champagne and ice cream and another £8.50 for a programme. All these extras add up though I won't be buying a programme until the Ashton mixed bills and Sarasota programme.

Ice cream can be more at other London theatres, I think last week when I went to see Crazy for You it was over £10 for two.

Programmes are about the same elsewhere too, although recent ones at the ROH have been uninspired or just reused photos so I haven't been impressed by them.

Champagne, I don't really drink, but was looking at getting some for an upcoming Jewels visit, I was shocked at the price, two glasses would be £32? The thing is they can charge what they want there because they know people will buy it as part of the experience of being at the ROH. I'm glad I don't like to drink!
