My DD is in the first year group that have gone through this incredibly harsh and brutal process.  They did do videos and photographs that where quite frankly awful.  This year they have assessed out 9 of the year group, 7 of which are girls!  All have been replaced with international students.  This leaves 2 British girls in the year group.  You say they are supportive, I disagree!!
This process has resulted in one of the children attempting suicide!!! Not one of the ones who are going from the year group were told that there was a problem and they might not get to the next stage, in fact they were told the opposite at artistic meetings.

On a positive note my DD is going to another vocational school that will nurture her.  In their words at audition ‘she is a huge talent’

Goodness me. I had no idea the number of “assessed out” children was so high.

I wish your daughter the very best at her new school.

we just had an email about new associate uniform 😃 I’m always psyched by a new bit of kit 🙈 I also wish we could know the times of the online classes (although sadly don’t think we can do either)..

Wow, this is exciting! I hear the JA leotard is changing? Will there be anything extra?

@BallerinamamaWhilst the RBS does seem extremely preoccupied with flat turn-out (my pupil is a couple of degrees off and I was told this was why she wasn’t offered White Lodge finals) she was offered MAs in the first round of offers, and her box splits are good, but not flat. In fact she said hers were the “worst” in the room except for the boys, yet only four girls in her MA class received offers from RBS (two for WL and two for MAs) so it can’t be a deal-breaker.

Thank you so much, this is all useful info. I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

@ballerinamama I can tell you exactly:

Stand facing the front, side and back

Pliés, tendus, relevés and grands battements in 4 counts at the barre

Sautés in 1st, changements, galops, spring points and temps levés (hops)

    Arabesque

Improvisation (this year, they had to be an Autumn leaf)

    Hamstring stretch, cobra, side splits

    A reverence

So more of a normal ballet class than the JA audition.

Oh wow, thank you. That’s interesting. Is side splits a box/middles splits?

we haven’t had confirmation yet of which time it’ll be .

    congratulations btw x

Thank you so much! We might see you there!

    Aren’t there 2 classes of year 6’s ?
I’d estimate there’d be 7 places in my daughters 32 week course but there’s also the 24 (I think) week one , so could be another 7 ?

14 places is more promising. Thanks for this.

My DD went for her audition today in Bham.

    She said:

Started in a big circle, had to do skips and gallops

Did some work at the barre, plies and tendus in first position

Had to lie on their tummies and do a "seal" (?)

Had to lie on their back and do a frog

Bend down and touch their toes (for ages, apparently)

When they were doing the exercises, the judged walked around the room and spoke to some children that were not doing it right (along the lines of "relax your arm" or whatever)

She said a lot was barefoot, so either wear socks or those tights with holes in. Some girls had to dance in tights feet, which was presumably quite slippy/not the best.

There were some other things they had to do, but she couldn't remember them/was fed up of telling me

Overall, she loved it, had a great time and didn't feel under any pressure once in there. She was terribly nervous before!!!

Great summary! Do they need to do box/middle splits at all? My daughter is asking 🤣
