No, she applied to Tring too but got waiting list.

It's always a gamble applying for older years as there may be no places anyway. But, for us, year 7 was too young for dd to move away as we live hours from any of these schools. It took us 6 hours door to door to get up to The Hammond!

I was told by a teacher out off all the MDs offered last year all went to year 7’s,  I think about 12 in total with 56 places offered (out of the 80+ who applied) in total made up with fee paying. I know of 3 others who got a bursary of 30%, I think a girl joined in year 9 in September then offered a MDs after she started!!!!  Previous year all who made recalls got a 50% bursary if they didn’t get a MDS, no matter what year they were in.

congratulations to those who have had fab news today and those who havnt then don’t be lose the way as every cloud has a silver lining you just have to choose another route which might turn out to be a better route at the moment although it may not seem like

Gosh, that doesn't sound too hopeful at all!

Maybe they allocate yr7s and see what they have left from acceptances? Who knows!

Yes, who knows!!! If only we did 😂.  I was thinking the same. Surely they like to fill up year 7 first as priority, but ours in other yr groups could be waiting a while to hear then as some yr 7's won't accept until they've done all auditions at other schools and heard back from them too.  Huge well done to those yr 7's who have been offered funding though....brilliant news 😊😊

Any idea how many girls were in the yr9/10 audition? X

My daughter said there were about 13. Something like 10 going for yr 9 and 3 for year 10.  She was number 2, going for year 9...I think she was the smallest one, in pale blue leotard.  She LOVED it!

  5. My DD came out happy! She had a lovely time too and was in the year 9 group later on from 11am.  Seems a lovely school and she really liked the teachers. Well done to all. I wonder when we'll find out!!!

  6. DD is going for bare feet or foot undies for lyrical, and is bringing jazz shoes and block jazz trainers for the jazz.  We're on the ferry now from the IOW so there's no going back on what she's got now 🤣

I also have spare LFT’s and I will be staying at Chester Prem Inn (South Central). I will take spare with me in case anyone on this forum needs to contact me for one!

We are staying at DoubleTree by Hilton 5 mins away if anyone needs one too and would prefer to do it the night before.

  8. I've just received a reply e mail from The Hammond.  They aim to get the schedule out to us within the next few hours (it's being worked on now but they have a lot of children auditioning so it's taking time).  They definitely need a negative covid test and if you aren't able to get hold of your own the school nurse is able to do this beforehand.  I do have a few spare tests i'm bringing with me if anyone needs one.  I tested my dd today as we are travelling a long way and wanted to ensure she is negative before we set off early tomorrow morning.

That’s the route we’re going down too in terms of clothes and footwear. It’ll all be grand and as long as the kids enjoy it that’s all that really matters x

That's good then.  I suspect we'll all have the same idea.  As long as the children are well turned out and wearing appropriate attire i'm sure it will be fine.  I'm sure they'll have a lovely time.

  11. My daughter's also very chilled about it all ..... but super excited at the same time, and the fact she gets to dance in a dance studio for the first time in months is even more exciting!!😂  I guess as long as they've got their ballet gear, which i assume they arrive wearing under their tracksuit, then they can wear that for everything.  Just added a pair of jazz shoes and jazz sneakers just in case too.

  12. still no e mail!! We're leaving home to travel up at 8am tomorrow morning!!  Just taking what we think she'll need unless we get the e mail today!! Done daughter's covid test as wanted to do it before we leave home (as no point in travelling such a long way if it's positive), which is negative.  I did wonder if they were also doing the academic test too on Wed.

The students are wearing masks so it shouldn’t be an issue. Good luck, the current y8 are an amazing group of kids 😊

She is worried about dancing in a mask!!! They are all in it together so will have to get on with it!! Very difficult expressing themselves in masks though but at least it's an 'in person' audition. Ah that's so lovely to hear the year group are amazing.  My dd is sooo excited 😊 The Hammond seems such a lovely school.

  14. Hi all, I'm new on here! My dd received an offer for yr 9 on 14th Jan with invite to MDS audition. We are over 4 hr drive away plus a one hour ferry!!. Does anyone know whether they will be permitted to wear masks for the duration of the audition? We know Tring are requesting this. This is our daughter's only little worry!
