  1. Even the most confident, outgoing, aspiring dancers may not make it to a company. Jobs are so few and far between. I would say, enjoy and embrace the journey and don’t think too far ahead. Confidence can be developed  with time 😊

  2. Yes, very limited then. Such a shame. Elmhurst results came out this evening, fingers crossed for good news for somebody in the coming days. There were a few year 7s that attended the Hammond, at Elmhurst finals too so who knows.

  3. Elmhurst results are expected this Saturday, so there could be some movement on the waitlist in the coming weeks. I imagine Tring MDS and WL results will follow very soon too. Fingers crossed.
Iv’e only heard of a few MDS places for year 7 at the Hammond this year, anyone heard different? Seems like a limited year this time sadly.

I’m not saying that your daughter will take to this suggestion, every child is different, but I had similar concerns about how it might appear if I went in with her. I then asked my daughter and she surprised me and said ‘I think it’ll look more professional and committed if I go myself’!! Very proud of her for thinking in that way, and ultimately she’s right! If she does go in 6 months, I’m not going to be there to hand hold (very sadly😢😢😢, she’s my little girl ❤️). It’s only going to be for a few minutes and you’ll be sat right outside in the foyer so can see her straight after. Maybe if she sees others going in themselves, she’ll feel happier…so long as she’s not first up I guess. I think the message is that it’s flexible and I think you can decide last minute depending on how she feels. Good luck!!

And for context, it was in a room with several other people having their interviews with a different member of staff at the same time, it was very friendly. The interview is with a member of staff (not a member of the panel) x

Thank you! I was planning a little ‘play practice’ tomorrow… I just didn’t know how formal the session would be! Really great tip about thinking of a couple of questions

It is very informal and I don't think it has much, if any, bearing on the result. It is more just about getting to know the child, to build up a bit of a picture before they potentially attend. An opportunity to discuss any worries or ask any questions you might want to ask, and to make sure the school is definitely what you are looking forward. It doesn’t matter whether you go in with the child or not, attending the audition is enough to show resilience and independence. So if your child finds comfort in having you with them in the ‘getting to know you’ session, then don’t overthink it. From experience, it’s a great experience, the school is very friendly with a lovely feel about it. Good luck, we will be there too, second try for my daughter x

  6. Uber generally won’t go into Richmond park, you’d need to pre-book a taxi or use the cabs outside of the station. Definitely walkable though, albeit a fairly lengthy walk. Lovely if the weather is nice. Having your own car would be ideal.

I think waitlist is an achievment too, least thats what I am telling myself! 😬, fingers crossed places come up 😊

It is indeed, it means that if there were more places it would have been a yes. Well done 👏 and fingers crossed 🤞

I wonder if any one has thought about emailing to follow up on when they will send results. I think last year they updated the website to say the results would come of the week of blah blah... Do you think they would be annoyed and then that would affect the child's application?  I just don't know how long to wait.  The other program my daughter got into overlaps with RBS and I have no idea when it will fill.  Good news tho!  I was able to enroll my son in his sleep away camp with his friend! I was looking at the wrong age group when I thought it was full a few days ago.

The admin staff who email out the results surely have zero influence on the decision, so I wouldn’t worry about that.

I think the fact that it is taking so long must mean record number of applicants so i am not holding out any hope for a Yes after 2 waitlisted places.
This will be the last time we apply for summer intensive though as it just means she is not what they are looking for and i am not going to do it to myself or let her have another rejection.
wishing you all the best of luck.

Have you tried applying for the Easter intensive? UK dancers seem to have much more luck receiving a place at that one in comparison to summer. Summer seems to be used more for international students x

  10. I’ve just received the email for the support fund too. I wonder if accepting funding from the support fund (if offered) will automatically remove the child from the MDS funding reserve list? Or whether this funding is only offered for one year?

My DD letter has finally arrived after a week of waiting for it to be delivered🙈. Now to wait about funding, but not heard a peep. So not looking promising 😞. Congratulations to all of you who have received funding x x

All funding offers have been sent, so if you haven’t heard, you are right to assume you haven’t been awarded it. We cannot request to know what place they are on the reserve list and we must pay the £160 to secure their place on the reserve list. Fingers crossed for movement over the coming months 🤞x

I also wondered if they might hold some back as they still have auditions at the end of the month? Maybe once they have done them they will give out more to either those students or those from the first round of auditions?

Yes quite possibly so. Oh well, we will go on like it’s a no and if anything pops up it’ll be a nice surprise. Fingers crossed over the coming months x

That’s what I’m wondering now. Maybe year 7 funding has gone out first?

If there are only between say 9-12 awards then I can’t imagine it would take this long to email them all out, unless they are still actively deliberating, but I can’t see that being the case?

Does anyone know if they let us know if there is no funding for our child? X

Wondering the same. Radio silence here so can only assume no funding or reserve list, uh 😔x

I think that's good news! Fingers crossed! I'm stuck now as to whether or not to pay the £160 deposit, because if she doesnt get the mds my girl can't go. So could do with knowing about the funding before I accept the place 🤔

Somebody commented earlier that we should know about funding by next week, I’d maybe contact the school or hold off for a few days, hopefully there will be an update from the school soon x

Are the letters posted 1st class? I just need to back away from the front door and try to distract myself, as only got the email yesterday about the letter being posted 🙈

Email received yesterday, letter arrived today 1st class x

  19. A letter has just arrived with a lovely gold seal. There’s no way to sneak a peak so I’ll have to be patient until my daughter gets home tonight. Assuming it’s good news 🤞 Now to cross everything and hope and prey for MDS 🙏

Good luck to everybody else x

Don’t know what to say about it all

    to be honest

need to try and stay positive

So sorry to hear your news, it is really difficult.

My daughter worked really hard and had 3 years as a RBS JA, made the finals for Elmhurst, and RBS semis but unfortunately didn’t end up with a vocational or Mids place, Tring was a straight no . The advice we received from her JA teacher and her local teachers (35+ years experience) was that all children develop at different rates, some are physically ready at 11 and others take a few more years. That being said, gaining a vocational place at 11 does not necessarily

mean the child will be any more successful than a child that gains a place at 16 for example.

Please don’t give up. In the dance world, there are a lot of rejections, so being able to positively deal with it at this age can be a good thing for preparing for the future. Speak about how you feel with your child’s dance teacher to put a plan together for moving forward.
