  1. I think if social media wasn't a huge part of these tiny dancers lives, the intensives wouldn't be a thing! I'm sure its being seen to attend them that is the real pull, not necessarily the taking part! I am quite shocked at the amount some children have done this summer, how on earth do families facilitate this, flying all over the world for ballet class just seems a bit ridiculous to me, maybe i'm cynical, or maybe these ballet girls have no siblings and their parents don't have to work?

  2. we are JA3 London, my older daughter has just finished Ja's and moving into MA's, when she started we ordered the shoes from the uniform shop but they were terrible fit, baggy and over sized, she did wear them for some of the term and then i gave in and let her wear her normal split sole canvas which everyone else in her class was wearing! So i'll just let my younger daughter wear her normal ballet shoes! I need to read the info booklet as i didn't and hadn't seem that we need to submit school report or a headshot!

  3. my daughter has been offered a london place, only let her audition as my eldest did it,(she's just finished JA's and is starting Ma's in september)  never expected her to get in, shes a very different dancer to my older daughter!! I'm not sure we will accept the place as i think the class times would clash with all her other dance lessons at our dance school, meaning she'd have to stop RAD ballet, modern, tap and strengthening, so would be counterproductive! i am going to try and see if she can be swopped to online lessons as i believe these are on sundays which would work best!

Just out if interest how many are on the online classes and are they at different time throughout the day?

there were 14 in my daughters class, and i think there were at least 3 different classes that ran on a sunday, i'm not sure if it was done in ages, as one week there were 4 birthdays in the same class, which made me wonder if the classes were sorted in ages!

My daughter also got short waiting list for Manchester and online lesson. I would be interested in knowing how people have got on with the online too.

my little girl did online Associates for 2 years and she really found the classes fantastic. they send you theory ahead of the classes and worked on different areas every week, i found they also really worked on all areas of audition too (improvisation and use of body etc) this helped her massively when auditoning this year x

  6. my daughter will be starting London Year 6, she is so excited, having taken the online classes for 2 years, she can't wait to be in live lessons! Not sure when we will get the info about which class she will be in, anyone know how many year 6's they usually have?

  7. i took my daughter to audition at the Eastleigh centre but for a place in London, because we couldn't make the London dates. I am now worried incase by the time they got to the London dates they forgot all about children from other centres 🤣 Lets hope that isnt the case!!!

  8. i think it would have been a nice touch if the RBS auditions team had explained about reduced numbers etc, we've all paid a fee and the children all gave it their best shot in difficult circumstances, i don't think it would have been difficult for them to release a bit more info! its like the secret service with no one really knowing whats going on or how many places are available! or maybe im just nosey 🤣

My DS got SWL for London Y4 last year, but unfortunately it didn’t materialise into a place as no one dropped out. BUT, I’m assured it means your child stood out, and there aren’t enough places to accommodate all. My DS was tiny last year and he’s grown so much in a year, also as a dancer. It’s a really positive achievement even if it doesn’t materialise into a place.

thank you! yes Its a positive sign and i'll tell her its something to be proud of! shame it wasn't the live audition as i know she'd have enjoyed the experience far more but fingers crossed for next year!

Which group are you?  If your group one then thinking group 2 not going to be out for ages!  My DD is group 2 and her first video was watched for 8 mins, second 4 and third 3 minutes.  Think they are skipping through the instructions parts I guess so will look haphazard!

Group 1! they watched them mid september then nothing until monday!

  11. wish i was a bit more technical with computers, when it had only been viewed once it was easy to easy which bits they'd watched but now it looks like a heart monitor trace with so many ups and downs i cant tell what they would have re-watched yesterday! hopefully not the bits where i was flagging to her that she was about to jump back into the sofa 🤣

Results update for group 1 - stand down team until the end of next week! 😬

(Yes I emailed back, all the while worrying that by being annoying I might be reducing DD's chances! and got this lovely response)

    Hello Rachael,

    Thank you for your message.

We are still finalising the results for the London group, but we hope to have those out to everyone by the end of next week.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

    Many thanks,

    Kim

We are group 2 and none of our videos have been watched all the way through. Only a few minutes of two of them and none at all of part two. I’m thinking this means that they didn’t see what they were looking for straight away 😞

i noticed my daughters videos had higher viewings at certain points in each video, i think they must have skipped to bits they particularly wanted to see? could you analyse and see which bits they had watched of each one? x

Got our group 4 email! I am confused because it says at the top not to save the videos onto your device then at the end it says videos must be deleted if you downloaded them. Our Internet connection is so dodgy because we live in the middle of nowhere but I'm not sure if I can download them or not. 🤔

Also it says no tiled floors and the entire of our house has tiled floors. 😂

I didnt download, i just kept the email and clicked on the links as we were filming> that could be tricky if your internet isn't great! is there anywhere else you could go to film her?

  15. i watched my daughters videos back last night and didnt realise how loud i was when i was 'whispering' "move back" (as her feet went oout of shot, then..."move forwards move forwards" as she almost sauted into the sofa ... lets hope they didnt watch with the volume up loud 😂

I don't want to click the links as it says to only look at them once (when recording). Will they need a ballet barre and how much space would you say they need please?

no you don't need a barre, or much space, we used our lounge which has a carpet so not ideal but our kitchen wasn't big enough, i would click on it just to watch the intro (without your child) i found it helpful for me to set it up before we filmed as i knew what to expect, i didnt watch the full thing, hth
