My DD was one of the inaugural group there but left a few weeks ago as she has taken up a contract with a dance company.  She enjoyed her time there, although there were some teething problems initially which I can't discuss on a public forum, but these have been addressed.  I can say she didn't regret taking up her place and that she enjoyed her time with them very much.   Good luck with the decision making!

Thank you Dancefanatic. Any chance we could have a chat in confidence? No one else seems to know anything so if you would share your experience with me that would be so helpful. I don't want to give up my DD's more traditional upper school place without a sense of 'known' risk.

  2. Dear All

I have just received an email from the RBS summer intensives team asking me to confirm or decline my DD's place on the RBS Summer Intensive 2020. At the end of the email it congratulates her for getting a place.

Last week we received a 'wait list' place and so I was somewhat surprised by the email and delighted of course. However, I thought I had better just call the Intensive team to double check before I broke the news to my DD. They told me it is simply a computer generated email sent to everyone placed or on the wait list.

My DD is extremely fortunate to be in a vocational school. If we were reliant on RBS outreach opportunities to support local ballet schooling this would have been a really horrible let down. I thought I had better share before anyone else was as confused as me and thought wrongly it was an offer.

I still feel very let down.

Good luck to everyone who has a place and good luck to those waiting like we are. xx

Yes, my dd's first reaction to our email was, 'Well, I'll try again next year all the same!'

Hi Katia05. My dd didn’t get offered a JA or even SWL last June and has just been offered Mids so that just shows you how things change. All you can ask from a child is that they pick themselves up with your help and get back to the barre. I am learning that resilience is all in this game. Xx

We delined our swl place for London as my dd off to Elmhurst 😁

We are declining our Mids offer for London. My dd is going to vocational school. I do feel strongly that associate places should go to children who can’t go, for whatever reason, to vocational schools. I accept it’s a tough, competitive business but I still think we can support, encourage and drive our children forward and yet still consider the whole community of children who are just as committed to dance.

Congratulations to everyone who got places now and are on the swl. May it be good news for those waiting very soon. Xx

  7. Can I just do a big shout out to all the little girls who danced their beautiful talented way into vocational school finals this year and were not offered places. I dedicate this message to one little DD to whom I desperately hoped would be lucky and wasn’t. Remember Darcy, Jasmin Nahgdi, Melissa Hamilton and Francesca Hayward were once in their position and fought for success because they believed they would get there in the end. They did. Boy did they get there.

    Keep going girls. Xx

    Dear Dopedeedoo

Here's my DD and I ......wishing you and your DD all the very very best of luck tomorrow. ***** We're group 1 too. I'll be the one looking totally bedraggled after a mad dash up the M40!!

Sleep well and hope its a fun day. I'm feeling much more positive.

  9. Thanks you Dancer 123, Glissade and Balletbrokemybank

Right...forging on.....don't suppose the three of you fancy coming with us?

I am just new to this world. My DD is so much more resilient than I am but if she can go tomorrow in her normal high and positive spirits she'll have a wonderful time whatever the outcome. I can't promise you won't be hearing from me again though. 🙂

Thanks again lovely people.  Looking forward to being in a more 'experienced' place and being able to give back to this forum one day soon.
