  1. Teaching is excellent. Accommodation is very good  is in twin en-suite rooms or twin rooms with shared facilities. All on one campus with canteen and studios. Some activities for kids but if they take the full schedule of classes there isn’t much room for more than dinner and a movie.

  2. Hello and thank you so much for your reply.

It’s great to hear from you that you feel it’s a very rounded school. We are absolu aware that odds of gaining places are very slim, but are initially looking at it as a summer intensive that gives her a different perspective to the British ones and European ones and to experience the teaching styles. so with the summer course three classes a day is about 4.5 hours? Seems plenty to me if they are working at a high level and did your daughter board during summer? If so did they then keep them selves entertained and have a chance to see Toronto?

As for the main school, in the tiny hope she got a place, I have a few questions:

    - how big are the years groups/classes

    - how are job prospects viewed

    - do most dancers manage to graduate or are many assessed out

    - what does a timetable look like at age 16ish (year 11) in terms of hours on academics/hours dance and hours of classical versus contemporary

Sorry to bombard you but across the pond is all completely new to us.

    thank you so much.

    best wishes,

    alexia

RBS yr 11 students have gone to destinations such as NBA, ESB, Joffrey, NBS Canada,  Boston Ballet School, Rambert, San Francisco Ballet School, ENB, Kings, Masters of Ballet, Basle Ballettschule to name but a few. Some have returned to their home countries Australia/ Brazil etc to continue training. Some do private training.

    That’s interesting.
Any insight to why Elmhurst isn’t in there and/or thoughts on best UK upper schools (of course it’s very individual) for a classical bias with contemporary?

  4. This is very useful reading. Thank you.

For those with current and very recent experience of Elmhurst Upper, I’d very much appreciate trying hearing more about:

    - timetable (dance hours per day/what dance etc)

    - performances and competitions

    - general atmosphere (though v subjective)

    etc

Trying to get as full a picture as possible

    thank you

  5. Hello,

i couldn’t find a thread about ENB, so hope ok to start.

Would love to hear recent experiences of the summer intensive (level, teachers, class size etc) and also any feedback on the main school.

in context my 14 yo daughter been offered SI (currently at voc school in France).

    thank you

  6. DD lucky enough to have two weeks at the RBS summer Intensive this year. One of the questions is whether you want them to be ‘observed’ for full-time education. It then goes on to say this doesn’t replace an audition class but gives no further info (and I got the same answer when I asked directly). Could anyone shed any light on how this works (we hadn’t previously applied via video as financial situation was different). Thank you

  7. Thank you for your really useful responses. All makes sense to to rational adult, but feels like the ultimate ballet démotivation to my poor daughter. She needs to ask why...I know.

  8. Probably a question for the ballet teachers on this great forum. My daughter is baffled and refuses to ask her teacher, but after a year of doing double pirouettes or more en pointe, she’s been asked to do only one. She’s confused, frustrated etc. Anyone have an insight into why this might happen? Thank you (in the meantime we are still telling her to just ask...!)

  9. Hello,

would anyone have any recent feedback and insight into the PNSD in Cannes? I’m particularly looking for insights into their full time training (quality of dance, how past students do, pastoral etc) and not the summer intensives.

    thank you

  10. Hello, im very new to this and have some questions which I hope you may be able to help with.. I’m wondering which are the best summer and indeed Easter intensives that are non selective, and the best selective?  For my 11 dd.

Also has anyone any experience of Rosella Hightower in Cannes, both their intensives and full-time training?

    thank you
