Finals are on today for older ones i think......so who knows!!

My DD was at finals for yr 10 on Friday and Saturday and there were a lot of staff on the panel so they were probably preoccupied 🤣

It should definitely be this week, then we can all start to arrange our summers one way or another. 😊☀️🛫⛱️

I would have thought assessments would be a separate process to auditions or applying for a Year 10 place. I’d expect both processes to have separate outcomes, that is, someone can pass an assessment but not get a place. I don’t know how it works though but know that’s how it works in some academic schools (they pass all subjects but don’t get into the school’s sixth form, for example). Unless they use the same criteria I guess in which case they can use the assessments as a 2-in-1.

The current year 9’s have a separate audition as well as their assessments. I feel for this year group and the one before because the system changed whilst they were yr 7’s so it wasn’t what they signed up for!

There is an extremely small amount of UK trained girls going to finals for yr10 and the word is that Royal have already offered some places to International students for Yr10! Mostly competition winners. Royal do state on their programme structure that entry into yr10 can be through competitions.

Thank you. Yes it’s close enough to drive but I wasn’t sure if spaces as said it was limited. I’d much rather drive as long as I can park

You should be able to park, there is a fair sized car park at the school the first time my DD went to finals there were  70+ children at finals and we all managed to park. They opened the far gate and some people parked just outside on the last day pick up.

    Hello everyone!

I know this is a massive long-shot, but is there anyone attending the Junior week of Sander Blommaert’s Summer School who might be able to host a 12 year-old (Year 7)?

I’d love for my pupil to be able to do this Summer School as I know that the quality of teaching will be excellent and that lots of individual corrections will be given, but it’s tricky as it’s non-residential and of course, she’s far too young to stay up in London and commute alone.

Alternatively, does anyone know of other ballet Summer Schools where the class sizes aren’t enormous, where the teaching is excellent and where there is plenty of dancing each day?

She will apply for RBS but is obviously unlikely to be offered a place. She has been put on the Waiting List the last two years.

Moorland was excellent but it’s just so far away for us!

She will probably do Elmhurst’s as she is a full-time student there, but I would like her to experience something else too.

    Off piste suggestions particularly welcome!

    Thank you!

Tring is brilliant, my DD did it last year. 5 classes a day including ballet, contemporary, musical theatre, lyrical and Jazz. My DD also did RBS last year, which she loved too, they did four classes a day so one extra at Tring.

On one of the evenings they had a trip into London to watch My Fair Lady.

Can’t believe I’m writing this, but does anyone have experience of an Elmhurst/ Birmingham MAs combo being allowed?! Or of asking to change centres?!

Congratulations to the yesses, and hold on in there not the not yets. It often really is “not YET”.

I know that YDA, Moorland and Tring allow their students to enjoy RBS Mids at the weekend. I believe it comes on the understanding that school commitments come first. Some students carry on with Mids whilst ensuring that they have made the correct choice about vocational school and don’t want to give up their Mids place in case vocational isn’t for them. I know of Mids moving centres. A girl at my DD centre moved. Now is the time to ask, whilst they are looking at filling places from the wait list.

Short wait list for us which I think is an achievement in itself..... anyone know how short the short list is and any chance of a place?

There is quite a lot of movement as vocational students turn down their places. I know of a few that got into my daughters Mids class from wait list.

Anyone know how many yr 8 girls were auditioned at elmhurst?

There were 6 year 8 girls in the second group on Tuesday, it was a mixed group of year 7 and 8. There was 8 year 7 girls in the group, so 14 in total 😉

    Did your daughter audition?

    😊
