  1. The positive of taking higher exams is the UCAS points that come with them. Some upper schools offer degree courses in the first year and you will need UCAS points for these courses. Unfortunately, if you go away at 16 you will most likely only have GCSE’s which do not qualify for UCAS points.

  2. My DD has come off the Waitlist for the past two years

Last year was the end of April and the year before that was middle of June.

YGP finals are on at the moment and they might offer summer scholarships there. So could be movement from around the end of April 🤷‍♀️

My DD is boarding  too but doesn’t know anyone else who is. She is year six. Are you in the same boat?

My DD is year 10 - I’m sure your DD will meet new friends soon. It usually only takes about an hour and they are friends for life 🤣🥰

So my daughter isn’t boarding, but has been given a registration time of 5pm on the Monday 8th. Im confused I thought the course started on the Monday? Or have I got this wrong? Thanks

My DD is boarding and is arriving on the Sunday 7th.

5pm on Monday doesn’t sound right to me, is that pick up time??

For anyone who was accepted, Congratulations! Did RBS set a deadline to accept? Just curious as a waitlister here when I can expect the earliest notification of a potential spot.  Based on comments previously posted here, it seems that waitlisters that do get in wait a long time to receive news of a spot for their child. Is that a safe assumption? Thank you!

My DD has come off the waitlist for the past two years

1st time was early June, 2nd time was early April

I did wonder... it states that the class is 12.45 til 2.45pm, so unless they are all happening at the same time, there's only 1 group? Y7 and 8 audition separately from 9 and above though, so perhaps 2? If a seasonned Young Dancers' parent has the answer, I'd love to know!

They have multiple studios so could have a few Extended classes happening at the same time.

it seems that the younger year groups are separate 👍

Thanks, she's auditioning for Y9, although I got the impression from reading their website that there is only one class for Y9 to 12? Or do they train in year groups like the younger ones? If there is only one class, there can't be many places available... What year is your DC auditioning for?

My DD is auditioning for Yr10. The website states yr 7-12. I can’t imagine they would have such a huge age range in one class. My DD is a current RBS Mid Associate and at her centre they have a class mixed yr7,8 and 9. It is so hard for the teacher (although she does a fantastic job)

Not sure on spaces, I guess it depends how many are leaving 🤷‍♀️

I've emailed and they were very quick to answer and confirmed they had received my daughter's application. They said information would be sent "in due course".

Glad you got it sorted, what year is your DC auditioning for?

Is anyone auditioning for the extended young dancers? I was wondering whether you had received an acknowledgement email for your application? I applied a few weeks ago but only just realised I had no acknowledgement that it had been received. Thank you 😊

I applied for my DD and received a confirmation that stated the year group I had applied for etc and it said to keep an eye on emails for any updates

Still waiting for audition times. Website says it is on 20th May

Does anyone know approximately how long it takes for RBS to allocate audition days/ slots to people for the JA auditions? I didn't know if it was quite late in the day, or pretty quickly on application close?

And should they get in, does anyone know/ have experience of the travel bursary for Associates travelling a long way to their centre? Our first and second choice centre are 60 miles and 100 miles away, so a fair trek!

    Thank you!!

I’m sure travel has to be 75miles (one way) at least. It is paid in two instalments normally around December and July/August. This gives them time to work out how many sessions you attended before both payment dates. You have to show proof of your journey, I use AA Route Planner. 😃
