I’ve just had a google, and according to Merton council’s website there are meters on Crescent Road (though I don’t know how many). You have to pay to park between 8.30 and 18.30, and it’s £1.20 an hour. This page (scroll down to nearly the bottom) gives the information: https://www2.merton.gov.uk/transport-streets/parking/parking-meters_30a5b07.htm#find

It’s only half a mile from Raynes Park station (or a bit over a mile or a short bus ride from Wimbledon station), so that might be easier.

Thanks Confuddled. I was wondering if there was parking in the school as it is the holidays?

    Casting 26th June

    Rehearsals 6th-10th and 13th - 17th Aug

Dress rehearsal and performances 22nd - 25th August

So I'm guessing your DD is doing this? Has she done any before? We haven't but went to see AdageKitty's daughter in Copelia and were very impressed!

  3. This may be a bit early but we are very excited that DS is doing this! Based on the main thread there are at least two others on here who are doing it. It will be great to be in touch especially as we aren’t able to make the casting day.

Hi there! Has anyone performing in Wimbledon swan lake in August heard anything yet about rehersal venue? I know it said by Friday but I’m feeling randomly paranoid about the radio silence! Thanks in advance- it’s all rather new to me!

I’d missed that! I was wondering if it was too early to start a thread. It would be great to be in touch with others who are doing Swan Lake.

  5. If it’s the same as dance then it runs pretty much the same as the local festivals except the competition is tougher as you’re now competing against the qualifiers from the local festivals.

Dance adjudicators are named and qualifications listed on the website.

Hope that’s helpful and good luck to DS.

These are the closest versions to the ones the RAD are using, that I can find anyway! I’m toying with the idea of joining the RAD, (luckily I have transferable qualifications) but not owning my own school means I can’t very well go around swapping what syllabi I teach!

I’ve been quizzing RAD teachers I know and they either haven’t heard of it or just can’t work out where the Discovering Rep fits in with their students. I’m hoping it takes off as it is really good!

If you have £25 to spare the repertoire videos are available on the RAD app  That’s £25 per level

I keep getting a ‘suggested post’ from Estonia International Ballet School on my Facebook page. It looks very interesting, but I’d never heard of it. Anyone any experience of this summer school?

Sorry to hijack your thread JayJay - don’t think this one would be any use to you as it’s for ages 16+.

No problem BlueLou I’m happy if the thread is useful others as well!

How old is your ds jay jay? X

Ah yes that would help! He's 10 will be 11 next year. He's doing Ballet Grade 5 RAD and Interfoundation. He also does Tap, Jazz, Modern, Acro. We don't mind city or beach. Will look up everyone's suggestions thanks.

  10. My 10 year old DS does 3 hours ballet, 3 hours tap, 2 hours acro/conditioning, 2 hours jazz/modern a week. We have been told about the same amount of hours per week as their age is OK. He actually does more than that with exam practice, festivals etc. Plus holiday intensives. I suggested dropping one class and he's begged me not to. He will do a 2 hour class and them come home and dance until bedtime! We know he's ill if he doesn't dance.

My two did a senior audition recently but I think the junior audition takes the same format.

The children are given a number to wear based on when they arrive (ie first there gets number 1) and then they are arranged on stage in rows of ten. The teacher then teaches an exercise which the group will perform in front of the panel and once that exercise is complete that row goes to the back and so on. Sometimes the rows are staggered so that individuals can be seen better and frequently the exercise is danced  one row at a time.

Parents can watch the whole audition and you find out at the end if you have a place. My dds really enjoyed the audition and are very excited about rehearsals and performing this summer.

    Good luck!!

Yes it was the same for juniors
