We had a very detailed email from the teacher a few weeks ago, listing what equipment they needed - including a very specific ball and theraband (links to purchase were included). I think it must be variable based on the teacher.

Oh wow , we never had anything like that. Must be very teacher specific.

Does everyone need to have resistance bands? We've had no communication to say we need them 🤔 is it different for different centres? In the handbook it says to bring a mat and then mentions that ballet body conditioning equipment is to be ordered online this year but had nothing further to say what/if we need that?

They don’t need any equipment at all but when my daughter started she soon started packing her band, just to help with a few stretches they do that don’t actually require bands.
On watching day it did seem that most of the kids had them. Probably more for looking professional than actually needing them. (Well that’s why my daughter takes it🤣

Sorry this is addressed to @Mumof1.

Thank you so much for those links - appreciate it!

The resistance bands - do you know if there a strong preference for Meglio or can I just buy one at my local Sports shop?

    Thanks!

Definitely no preference. Some have ones with loops, some plain ones and definitely not all one brand.

    Hi,

my daughter is starting as a new year 4 and we've been asked to bring a mat. Does anyone know if there's a certain type that's more suitable (I know they have different thickness measurements?) many thanks

Any mat will do, there’s all sorts being carried at our JA class. I’d just say something that has a mechanisms for easy carrying about on your journey?

White/nude colour knickers recommendations please to wear under the JA white leotard. Other posts are quite old!

We really like silky nude pants , you can buy them from Amazon but I know the new dansez leotard is pretty high cut on the leg so these might be better. iEFiELKids Girls' Ballet Dance Briefs Underpants Seamless High Leg Cut Dancing Knickers Underwear Dancewear https://amzn.eu/d/i2ermYv

we also have them and they’re nice, not as soft as silky though.

Hi everyone just looking for a few bits of advice!

What is involved in the Friday showing?

Also, is it fairly easy to keep in touch with your child do they get there phone back quickly in the morning?

    Any other advice greatly appreciated!

I spoke to my daughter in the morning before we got to watch.
For the presentation we got to watch a ballet class, then there was a short break for snacks (we got to chat to our kids and other parents) then there was a shorter repertoire class.

Do they help the young kids make up their beds with the bed sheets we have to bring? Also, the emails mention summer intensive clothing and shirts you can pre-order, but I haven't seen any communication on this, or taxi park passes. When did everyone get this information?

My daughter tells me they helped each other out on their bedding. I aided her by making sure it was all packed inside out and we had a practice at home.
the T-shirt order form was in a link on an email a while ago. I checked it the other day as my daughter fell in love with the blue colour but it doesn’t seem to be working anymore, I think it might be too late.

As @Mumof1said, most children seemed to have them. Fortunately, they had to be given in to house parents in the evenings (so they could sleep device-free) and given back to the children in the mornings. They were strictly not allowed in studios and only for free time. It was good to know they could call home if feeling a little home sick. Although my DS was having such a busy and enjoyable time, I’d consider myself lucky if I got 1 text massage a day 😂

That’s so good to hear that they won’t have them at night. Thank you

This is so helpful, thank you. You mention TikTok, did all the kids have devices and phones with them? Or is it pretty digital free?

When we received the handbook it stated that all kids were allowed phones or iPads to use and call home . They are only allowed to use them in their free time and if they’re seen to be using them too much they’ll be taken away. I was very hesitant at first but if the majority of kids have them then I’ll just go with the flow.

Apologies for posting on here, DD was never a JA but is now an MA and I know how exciting it can be when you get that email and if you’re anything like me, I couldn’t wait to buy all possible uniform items (required and optional items!). However, MAs are changing uniform leotard this year. I’m not sure if it’s the same for JAs but thought I’d mention it in case anyone buys the old style leotard  pre-loved only to eventually regret not waiting to purchase the new style leotard. Again, I’m not sure if JAs are changing leotard too but MA definitely are.

Ja’s are changing too. It’s still white but with a pinched front and a new waist belt. Good call to let everyone know .
