  1. The offer letter from. Elmhurst says you have a week to accept otherwise the offer will be given to someone else. Don't know if they will wait until then to send out further offers or do it as refusals come in.

I do feel for all of those still waiting- the rollercoaster goes on. ????

  2. Well done to all the yeses and commiserations to the no's - as you say Danceintherain the Dcs are incredibly resilient and this absolutely does not mean the end of a dance career.

My Dd has a yes for Year 7 but after discussing it is definitely taking up her White Lodge place and I know of another girl and boy doing the same so I really hope that this means that some of your dcs get to go instead. ????

  3. I think you made a good choice there Waitingmum - the summer school and actual school are quite different so it is probably better for your daughter to wait and join with other new starters in year 7. That's not to say that the summer school isn't great - it is. But oddly my DS was homesick at summer school (they have more free time) but not at actual school (no time to be homesick!) With hindsight we should have skipped the summer school due to the homesickness but of course most children hopefully wouldn't get that!

Thankyou ZooZoo that is great to hear as I do feel slightly guilty that my dd is missing out on an amazing opportunity and I realise how lucky she was to even get a place!!

  4. I have just told them I no longer want to take my dds place up for summer school as my dd has unbelievably got a place at WL in September and I need to save my pennies!!

Hope this means that someone else from  here can go instead. :)

  5. That is correct mum in a spin. Returned for funding audition after being offered a boarding place after the first audition. But following the funding audition was offered a day funded only place which is why his parents rang. I obviously have not spoken to the school myself but have no reason to doubt them, especially as their ds has been offered a place elsewhere which they are going to take up.  The school apparently just said that unfortunately all the boarding places had been taken up by pupils that could afford to pay so that the MDS funding that they had couldn't be used for boarding places, therefore they would allocate to day places instead.  I can understand why the school would do this to ensure all their places are filled as early as possible.  I guess some years this may not happen.  Just know that my friend would not have taken her ds up if she had known this before, although I guess this means that Tring then have a reserve list if any child drops out before September. c

  6. I spoke to someone who rang Tring to find out why they had been offered a day rate MDS when they had applied for a boarding MDS. They were told all boarding places had been taken by paying applicants after the first round of auditions so the MDS money could only apply to day pupils. Might explain why everyone has been put on the reserve list! If this is really the case then I am so glad now I didn't waste our time going to the funding auditions. Do wish things were more transparent.

  7. I agree ignore these comments. You don't say how old your DS is. My daughter was one of the smallest and got solo roles and a couple of the older girls that were also small also got solos. The whole experience was fantastic whether you got specific roles or were part of the group dances - all my Dds friends who also went absolutely loved it. EYB were very supportive and completely convinced my dd this is what she wanted to do in life and she is off to dance school this September!! So be aware!!!!!

  8. I have taken the call back as a positive- even if it is a no at least it was a nearly yes rather than an outright no!!

Last year the girls didn't find out until Tuesday so I am trying to tell myself we won't hear today!!!

We are keepin busy as my dd has her inter foundation exam today - one thing after another!

    Fingers crossed for all.

  9. My dd also had a callback and I completely agree danceintherainwith all that you have said. tuesday think I had better take my phone charger to work as the battery my well run out with the number of times I'll be checking!! My dd has her intermediate foundation exam on Monday so all very stressful - she seems to be coping better than me!!

Hope your dd is feelin better this morning happymum - horrible when they don't enjoy but I think they all come out saying they got things wrong - my dd certainly did.

  10. Thank you all for good luck wishes. Hope that all the girls had a good day. My DD enjoyed it but wasn't entirely happy with her performance and with the way she was "gently handled" to asses her flexibility (saying that the teacher didn't try hard and didn't show fully her abilities). But I don't think that would make any difference. My DD hasn't been call back, and says that about 10 girls have been.

It's was very nice to meet you Plié, thank you for the chat :-).

Now the wait! Hope we will also hear on Monday or Tuesday and not later.

I don't think the envelop question has been asked this year yet? How was it for the boys and older girls? Normal small envelope with "no" and A4 with "yes"?
