Thank you. I'll hint to my mum as a little present in my stocking ????????

Very pretty. Are you doing the sizing based upon what you think that age ranges size of wrist would be? Just wondering as take myself as an example, I've got a tiny wrist that any adult sized bracelet would just fall off; would my case be to order the child's age 5-11?
Thanks ????

Thewinelake - I've just sent you a pm based on this.

I think it depends entirely or the age of the dancer and the school they are at. For lower school students and those doing a levels, they also have to fit in academic studies as well as their amount of dancing. I'm sure other forum members have an idea as some have dcs at vocational schools.

I'm gonna admit, bun nets do my head in!! The slightest catch on a hair grip and the whole things tears!! At least they don't cost too much! Might have to have reconsidered the whole bun thing other wise!! ????????
-
Think I finally got it!! Pups_mum, I think your DD's technique did the trick! Even just lightly patting it with the hair brush worked! I also wrapped the bun net round twice and that did wonders as it tightened the grip around the bun making it smaller and flatter. ????????

For the perfect cinnamon bun: put the hair in a nice high, right smooth ponytail. Split the hair in the ponytail into two. Twist one piece and as you twist, start wrapping it round the hair elastic holding your ponytail. As you wrap, pin it down tight and flat. Keep going until that piece is all pinned in. Repeat with the second piece of hair but obviously now wrapping around the first. It should create a flat, spiral effect bun. Add a bun net and hopefully it should look good!
It takes practice but it looks beautiful when done right.
Alternatively if you want a really flat bun: start with a high ponytail as before. Twist all the hair in one go and wrap around the ponytail but don't pin. Holding it in place wrap a bun net over the bun a couple of times. Now let the hair loosen out slightly and shape so it is flat and even before pinning lots and lots round the sides.
Tips for pinning: use bun pins not hair grips. Thick ones are better, especially for thick hair. Put one side of the pin into the edge angling away from the bun then poke in and under. Hard to explain but it's aiming to catch the outside of the bun and the hair on the head and get them to hold it better.
Practice makes perfect, especially when you aren't in a hurry. I can try and find pictures if you need them.
Hope that makes sense!
Thanks!! Would it be possible to attach photos? I think I know what you mean however a picture would give me a better idea ????

Thanks amos73. Would you maybe be able to ask your dd how she does her buns? It's sounds as if she has got it sorted ????

I've got medium length hair which is quite thick. What's the difference between a cinnamon roll and a normal bun? I've been doing my own bun since I was about 12 (3 and a half years) before that my mum would do it for me but she just did it so that she put it into a pony, plaited the pony and then twisted it into a bun net and secured with grips.
Hfbrew - what do you mean by securing the hair pin on either side?

Taxi4ballet - I've just tried to find it and although they have the link the video doesn't seem to be working on my phone.
Bellini Pointe - I've had a look on YouTube but none of them seem to have that 'prefect' look that I want ????

Hi,
Was just wondering if anyone could give step by step instructions on the perfect bun? I've been doing my own bun for a number of years now however I still haven't exactly mastered the perfect bun and they always seem to be bigger on one side of that makes sense? I've seen all these photos of a perfect bun however can never seem to replicate them ????.
Any tips would be great
Thanks ????

Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone knows how you can become a dance physio? My guess is that you go down the normal route of training to be a physio then go down the route of specialising to become a dance one? Have no idea though so any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks x

Was just a wondering if anyone knows of any youth ballet companies in England other than EYB and regional youth ballet?
Thanks

I think I've decided to wait until my teacher has time to give me the classes need to do the grade 5 as I don't really like the idea of going to 2 schools at once even if my teacher does agree with it. It also might deem to be quite stressful once September comes around due to GCSEs and sixth form open evening etc. I think you've hit the nail on the head there youngatheart! Its just the thought of thinking later in life that I'd wished I'd done it!!! Do you think there's any age limit on taking the grades??!! ????

Losing the love :(
in Doing Dance
Posted
Hi, I'm hoping someone would be able to help me with the above topic.
Up until recently dancing has been everything to me; I would spend my time at school waiting for the end of the day just so that I could get to my dance lessons and then lessons would be a whirlwind of excitement and joy. However, since about March I haven't been experiencing that same joy and excitement and have almost started to look at dance lessons as a chore rather than a hobby that I love. (I no longer wish to pursue dancing as a career) since last September I have been doing GCSE dance and this may be the cause of my sudden loss of interest however I'm not too sure. During the course of GCSE dance, I have realised that I struggle with choreography work and this has made me dread dance lessons in school which occur 3 times a week. Also, the girls in my dance class have the type of personalities which as outgoing and judgemental which for me as I'm not very confident, means I dread having to perform my solos in front of the whole class. I have been wondering if this could be the cause of my lack of love for dancing and would be very grateful if anyone would be able to advise me on what they think.
Thanks, Nutcracker-x
