A yes here in Australia for Central... DD is still asleep at the moment but she will awake to an email which will make her dream of studying in London a reality, a her dad will awake to a financial headache.. oh well that is the price you pay for the sake of the arts! 

MIAS most of the young dancers in Australia only come to Europe/UK for audition tours when they are 17 or 18 or even 19, they all hope to go straight into third year but generally speaking they get offered 1st or second year. Had we not recieved any offers this year my DD was fully accepting of the fact that she had 2 or 3 more years to keep trying, and we would have come back every year until then. Coming back a second or third time means you are armed with experience and know what to expect and that can make all the difference. I am not a dancer and have no real understanding of why these kids are so passionate about ballet,what I do know is there is nothing worse than living with a "what if" scenario... at the end of the day your dd will know when it is time to move on and leave her dream behind, but the reality is she did get through to the Central finals and alot of girls, I imagine  over 100 or maybe even 200 or more didn't get that far...that is an achievement all by itself and definitely a step in the right direction if thats the direction she wants to go in.

It is 1am here in Australia, I am at work doing nightshift and the email with the burning question just came through. Its a yes!...I cant believe it and thankgoodness I asked them to email it to us as they have only given 5 days to respond. DD is still fast asleep blissfully unaware but I have forwarded the email so she will awake to her dream being a reality.

I am absolutely gobsmacked and totally humbled with having three offers to choose, Rambert, Royal conservatoire and now Central. But Central was always the favoured front runner! Now I just have to find a small fortune in the coming months and come to terms with my 16 year old daughter leaving home for the bright lights of London ...Oh dear!

Where there is a will there is a way.

Good luck to everyone else still waiting, I have heard that more offers will come out over the weekend and early next week, including reserve lists.

I have a question about upper school fees. International students pay full fees usually between GBP 14000 and GBP17000. Does anyone know if this needs to be paid in full up front or if term or semester payments can be made at most schools. We don't have a UK guarantor so we know that the cost of accommodation around GBP12000 will already need to be paid up front in full.

Mum in a spin, I am sure you are very proud of your dd resilience. Its great to hear she had something else up her sleeve in the event of disappointment. I wish her all the best and every happiness, the skills and disciplines learned through ballet whether as a career or a much loved hobby will stand them in good stead for whatever path life takes them down. I think not many of us are doing what thought we would be doing at 16... your dd for gave it her best shot, she wont have any regrets about not trying.

Our postman has just been and nothing! I guess no news is good news at this stage but it does resign us to yet another day of waiting and wondering.

Has anybody else heard either way... or do they know of anyone else who has heard from central?

I'm over the moon to say that DD got her letter today and it's a YES !!!!! A very happy house today               

That's Fantastic News Jazz paws... I bet your daughter is ecstatic. My dd was in the call back too that day and she remembers her and wishes her all the best. How long do you have to respond to the offer? We are on the other side of the world and I know the audition letter took 15 days to get here so I am worried about how long it will take a letter telling us one way or the other... was really hoping for an email ! 

Does anyone know how many students Central actually takes for 1st year?
