  1. Sorry to hear your news Dancermum and DancerMiax. Are you trying anywhere else?

My DD also trying for Tring so fingers crossed for that one, although know MDS places are very limited there so not overly hopeful!!!

  2. Have to agree it was a much better atmosphere this year with no over competitiveness beforehand. After last years disaster, I'm just so thrilled that DD actually came out happy & said it went well - that's almost worth more than the results!!

  3. Gosh 8.45 is an early start! Thankfully we also have 10.45 - for year 10 entry.

Are the 10.45 ones just year 9 &10 or are the early ones also for year 9 & 10? Trying to figure out how many applying!!!

  4. We got ours by email (also for 18th nov) pretty quickly after sending the forms... Have you checked your junk/spam folder?

Still waiting on times but have booked hotel anyway as too far to do journey in a day.

  5. Hi southerndancemum, she absolutely loved the class - the standard seemed very good with a lovely teacher.

I think you may already have seen a previous post re the auditions but to say it again...

"When my DD auditioned in May there were about 130 auditioning for 15-20 spaces spread across the whole age range (8-18?).

Each group had 20-30 auditioning but quite a mix of ages in each (mine was in last group and they were age 12 to at least 16) so don't be put off if there are much bigger girls in your group.

My DD gets extremely nervous and it's not helped by the over confident ones in the 'warm up' area... however she really enjoyed the audition and said the teachers & panel were really friendly."

They were also very quick to let you know the result of the audition which was nice...

    Good luck

  6. Hello... We are off tomorrow for DDs first CBA session (group 4) and I wondered if someone could tell me if parents usually hang around or go offsite?

Her class is over lunch so wasn't sure whether to bring something to eat there or head out (perhaps with some other mums?)...

Also the list says split sole ballet shoes, does anyone know if they'll get upset if DD has full sole ones (current ballet teacher only allows full sole!)?

    Thanks!

  7. I got my DD one for last Christmas as she was desperate for it! She was 12 going on 13 & loves stuff like dance moms!!

It definitely helped her turns/pirouettes and I would say she now has the best of her age in class (and in competitions they are always specially mentioned by the adjudicator) but it's also a short lived thing... Now she's so good without it she hardly uses it, just for fun with her non dancing sister or when friends come over.

Was it worth the money...? For my DD yes, but being older you might not get such benefit from it? Maybe there's someone more your age that has used one & can offer advice...

  8. Great thread & lots of useful stuff... We are thinking of auditioning this coming year for year 10 entry and I wondered if anyone could shed some more light on the MDS income levels - do they take just 1 years income into account or several, plus do they review your award very year?

We run our own business and income can vary hugely year to year, hence the question.... If it's a one off assessment and it's been a particularly good year business wise then it might be the following year we couldn't pay our contribution if we didn't have such a good year.

  9. Yes IF is in the morning 11-1.45 so won't be there at same time as any of you...

Glad to hear good things though, got a little worried when her teacher said it would be lots of overseas students who might have learnt the syllabus slightly differently, didn't want DD to get confused the week before her exam!
