Hi all. We are moving and will be near Tunbridge Wells from next year so looking for a new dance shop in the area. Has anyone experience with Dancing Boutique? Or any other recommnedations around this area?

Can I also ask how far other parents travel for a good dance shop? (Having a discussion with DH about this!!)

I have 2 medium aubergine leotards as per Tring CBA uniform for sale. Straps are self sew when you buy new so there is some room for adjustment from where I’ve sewn them. My daughter is a size 6 in clothes and felt these were the best fit for her. Only looking for £5 for the pair (useful to have a spare!) plus £1 towards postage. Can send photo if required.

We applied for the NUS extra card, you have to pay but i think it was only £30 for the 3 years and gives lots of discounts - was very easy and card came within a few days (she's 16 and not 17 until well after Christmas). You can also have a 16+ oyster zip card for 1/2 price travel, valid until you are 18. My DD starting Laines, not in London so can't get free travel. Sadly we lose child benefit as it's a level 6 course so considered higher education.

As DD is 16 is would be the diploma, but do they have to do a solo, sing?? Their website gives limited information on this, and fees which is bizarre... how can you apply to a course if you don't know how much it will cost?!

Does anyone know what the fees at Urdang are for the diploma course and what you need to do at audition (solos, sing, etc)? I can't find anything on the website about either. Thanks

Does anyone know how many there are likely to be in each group at the sixth form funding finals? And how many groups?

From memory there seem to be anything from 5-10 - it varies year to year depending on how many students with MDS' are leaving the school. A couple of years ago there were 7 in total to cover everyone auditioning from yr7 up to sixth form entry.

Anyone heard from fridays Rambert audition? They said Tuesday but were still waiting...

From our experience, Tring & Rambert require a solo and so do the more all round/MT schools like Laines (typically all different lengths, some 1 minute some 1 min 30). Royal, enb, Elmhurst & central don't. Not sure about the others... sure someone else can add to the list.

We have used a cut down version of a festival solo done by dd's teacher but know others that have choreographed their own. I think as long as it shows you at your best it doesn't matter who choreographs it.

Wow, that's a lot of finals... how many do they take in each year? Sorry, don't know much about central...

My dd has her prelim for central on Saturday morning this week... just wondered if anyone has finals on Saturday and if so what time their finals start? (Trying to figure out logistics if she gets through)

Can anyone shed any light on what might get asked in the interview stage if you get that far? That bit is freaking out my DD far more than the dancing part of the audition

Can anyone tell me how the central course is split between ballet and other genres, contemporary, choreography, etc - how many hours a week of each do they do? Also how many do they take each year?

The letter says if you are offered a scholarship after finals you will only have 2 weeks to accept it and pay the deposit - but doesn't say how much for the deposit so don't know if that will be the full £2250 or a reduced one. Might be some tough decisions for people to make when there are still finals to go elsewhere!

That's less staying in from lower school than I would have imagined, but I guess funding comes into it for everyone

It would certainly be interesting to know how many places they offer - the head told me they only had approximately 18 places for sixth form dance (the rest being taken by current year 11's) and it would seem a lot more than 18 offers have been made!

We have also been offered a place and finals... but my concern is after finals will there be any spaces left or will those that can afford to pay have taken all the slots... just when I thought the worrying was getting less!!
