  1. Silly of me to set up a new email account this week then!  Have just been back to the old email and nothing in there so guess ours is a no too (unless they actually send an email saying "no" in which case I will continue to await one?!)....

Edited to add:  Got it!  She got a place. Thank goodness for this forum or it would have been lost in "junk" forever!

Sorry for your bad news Swanprincess... not too late to try for other places though?

  2. Just wondering if anyone has had the timetable for this yet as they said it would be available after 21st March (closing date).  We haven't seen our teacher yet to ask and I am desperately wanting to get my trains sorted before the prices go up.  Does anyone know what sort of time it will all be due to end on the Thursday 17th?  Many thanks.

  3. Thank you BankruptMum, I was very pleased with her as she was one (if not the) the youngest in the final of her grade.

A lot of teachers hold their students back from doing their exams in order for them to compete in a lower grade. DD's teacher does not do this so she is always young in the grade she competes.

The ages had changed this year which I think should now help prevent this.

  4. I'm confused between the "Scholars" and the "Associates".  Am I right in thinking the "Scholars" is more like the RB Associates in that it's every weekend more or less?  Am looking at it for DD in case she doesn't get offered another year after assessments!

  5. BankruptMum - They change it around each year so doubt they would know yet.  I think we were on the Saturday last year (Grade 4) whereas previously we had been on the Sunday for the same grade.  I stupidly went ahead and booked a hotel thinking it would be the same day too!

  6. This is odd because my DD's first pointe shoes were 3/4 shank. We were told to get them as apparently she wasn't strong enough to break in a full shank at the time. They were Suffolk Spotlights but I never got any more after that as in my opinion they were way too wide for her.

  7. We've done the Junior ones and Senior ones. There are maybe up to about 70 or so students per grade but they split them down into smaller sections of about 25 at a time so the stage isn't overcrowded. They are taught enchainments and get a chance to practice them with the teacher to make sure they all understand and then they dance them one row of children at a time. At the end they perform the exam grade set dance three or so children at a time. After this they will recall some for the finals which is basically doing the same all over again so the judges can get a closer look. It's a lovely day and my DD has made lots of friends along the way and it's the highlight of her year.

  8. We are waiting to try on someone else's trousers in Sept before buying as my DD also has really long, thin legs but a tiny waist We got the 14/15 sweatshirt as the lady said the Ladies Small was shorter and more fitted and the teen size was actually bigger (though she might want to layer up under it as the weather gets colder). We bought the leotard too as she needed a new one and I wanted to keep one specifically for SA so we aren't panicking on a Friday evening for a clean one! It's a nice fit but thinnish cotton so not sure what it will look like once it's been washed a few times. The belt is black and quite thin. We just need some new soft blocks and will then be sorted!

  9. This is a fab thread and have bookmarked to carefully read all 500 replies with a large glass of wine later this evening. I'm in the situation DD will be auditioning for 2015 entry and our options have been limited by my moving in with a partner on a high wage therefore making us ineligible for any DADAs. We have the option of the three BA courses. With such narrow options I wanted to throw this into the discussion (apologies if it has been covered and I missed it)... Schools abroad? Within Europe or further afield such as the USA or Australia? What are the funding/boarding options there? Whilst they may not be funded general costs may be cheaper overall? Probably all been covered somewhere which would save me the bother of researching it all! Places for the BA courses are only going to get harder to fight for and we need to start now to look at other options.
