  1. Daft question but have just had the email about tickets to watch and it doesn't say anywhere who to make the cheque payable to. Assuming it's just RAD then?
  2. Central's deadline isn't until June I don't think but you would need to find accommodation.
  3. Silly of me to set up a new email account this week then! Have just been back to the old email and nothing in there so guess ours is a no too (unless they actually send an email saying "no" in which case I will continue to await one?!).... Edited to add: Got it! She got a place. Thank goodness for this forum or it would have been lost in "junk" forever! Sorry for your bad news Swanprincess... not too late to try for other places though?
  4. Oh dear. We haven't heard anything so perhaps we got a no. Was it a letter or email and was it for the junior or senior course? Thanks.
  5. Don't worry... We still have no solo!!
  6. That's great thank you for that info. Quite excited about it now!
  7. Just wondering if anyone has had the timetable for this yet as they said it would be available after 21st March (closing date). We haven't seen our teacher yet to ask and I am desperately wanting to get my trains sorted before the prices go up. Does anyone know what sort of time it will all be due to end on the Thursday 17th? Many thanks.
  8. Oh you superstar!! Managed to get one for £5.50 too. Thanks so much for that info!
  9. As per title, would be interested if anyone is selling. Many thanks.
  10. The ages had changed this year which I think should now help prevent this.
  11. I'm confused between the "Scholars" and the "Associates". Am I right in thinking the "Scholars" is more like the RB Associates in that it's every weekend more or less? Am looking at it for DD in case she doesn't get offered another year after assessments!
  12. My DD is in it too. Good luck to all for the weekend.... lots of nerves (and trying to break new shoes in) going on here!
  13. I think we are going too depending upon spaces left by the time we get the forms in! I think DD will be level 3 but not totally sure. Also have no idea when we'll have time to sort a solo out!!
  14. BankruptMum - They change it around each year so doubt they would know yet. I think we were on the Saturday last year (Grade 4) whereas previously we had been on the Sunday for the same grade. I stupidly went ahead and booked a hotel thinking it would be the same day too!
  15. Ah... ok, didn't see that. Thanks for that.
  16. I've made my lists ready for auditions for entry Sept 2015. One place nobody has mentioned is London Studio Centre who do a Classical Ballet BA. Anybody have any experience of this? http://www.london-studio-centre.co.uk/courses/ba-hons-theatre-dance/classical-ballet
  17. Silly me read it as "summer school" sorry!
  18. DD does SA and we haven't been given any forms for summer school yet.
  19. This is odd because my DD's first pointe shoes were 3/4 shank. We were told to get them as apparently she wasn't strong enough to break in a full shank at the time. They were Suffolk Spotlights but I never got any more after that as in my opinion they were way too wide for her.
  20. We've done the Junior ones and Senior ones. There are maybe up to about 70 or so students per grade but they split them down into smaller sections of about 25 at a time so the stage isn't overcrowded. They are taught enchainments and get a chance to practice them with the teacher to make sure they all understand and then they dance them one row of children at a time. At the end they perform the exam grade set dance three or so children at a time. After this they will recall some for the finals which is basically doing the same all over again so the judges can get a closer look. It's a lovely day and my DD has made lots of friends along the way and it's the highlight of her year.
  21. I love darning shoes! I do a thick chain stitch round and round from the middle and then tidy it up around the edge with a blanket stitch! Only ever done Blochs and they are really tough but didn't occur to me to get her to wear them first as I would assume they could slip too easily?
  22. We are waiting to try on someone else's trousers in Sept before buying as my DD also has really long, thin legs but a tiny waist We got the 14/15 sweatshirt as the lady said the Ladies Small was shorter and more fitted and the teen size was actually bigger (though she might want to layer up under it as the weather gets colder). We bought the leotard too as she needed a new one and I wanted to keep one specifically for SA so we aren't panicking on a Friday evening for a clean one! It's a nice fit but thinnish cotton so not sure what it will look like once it's been washed a few times. The belt is black and quite thin. We just need some new soft blocks and will then be sorted!
  23. This is a fab thread and have bookmarked to carefully read all 500 replies with a large glass of wine later this evening. I'm in the situation DD will be auditioning for 2015 entry and our options have been limited by my moving in with a partner on a high wage therefore making us ineligible for any DADAs. We have the option of the three BA courses. With such narrow options I wanted to throw this into the discussion (apologies if it has been covered and I missed it)... Schools abroad? Within Europe or further afield such as the USA or Australia? What are the funding/boarding options there? Whilst they may not be funded general costs may be cheaper overall? Probably all been covered somewhere which would save me the bother of researching it all! Places for the BA courses are only going to get harder to fight for and we need to start now to look at other options.
  24. Lovely. Thanks Amethyst, we will take a look.
  25. Anyone know of anything happening in October half term. Workshops etc? Thanks.
