  1. I've got a loft full of old festival costumes - there will definitely be some Greek costumes up there. If you want to PM me with some more details about sizes, colour etc I can take a look at what I've got if you like.

Snap! It's quite expensive way to insulate the loft though

  2. Micropore but not the (cheaper) paper version - the (dearer - isn't everything involved with ballet !!) one that is more fabric ..... It is softer and bends without folding.

  3. Daughter uses them .....ill ask her why! They come in a large tub and as long as you decant some into a smaller pot, keeping the big pot closed tightly, they seem to last. She was introduced to them some years back at summer school by a nurse.

  4. Have you had a look at IDS, Weissman or Turnout Dancewear? I haven't ordered through these but they often have some lovely ideas. There are a number of FB pages selling both new or nearly new costumes too. Good luck with your search!

  5. This site has been invaluable over the last 2 years and at times I would have thought I was going mad without checking others weren't going through the same! Keep up the good work and thank you for all you do

  6. I usually just take nice photo of my daughter - Photoshop it to make it perhaps a fairy with wings blowing fairy dust over the tree....and get it printed and/or email it to family abroad around the world.

"just take a photo ......." Sounds lovely but very technical FlexyNexy!!
  7. I know each dancer is different ...... but how many pairs should I send DD with initially?

I fully understand her feet may change due to the increase in training, and she will probably need to be re-fitted when she comes home next, but I don't know how many she will get through in the first half-term .....

I'm not really sure I really want to know the answer ....

Also, to darn or not to darn?! Thank you for any advice :)

  8. Thank you and Sorry for delay Taxi4Ballet - I forgot I "strayed" from Doing Dance!

She is awaiting an AS level result by post this morning .... Then her GCSE's on Thursday! She is fine - I'll be better when results are here! Oh well, off to stalk the postman......

  9. Did you enjoy summer school SwanPrincess? Could you see yourself doing this everyday ..... week in, week out? Do you get "itchy feet" if you have a break from regular dancing?

Do you think you are apprehensive about the audition process which is giving you cold feet? I wish you all the very best for your choices this year.

It is so hard, I know my daughter has friends who are going to local college to do A Level courses they really don't want to do, simply because they don't know what they do want to do .......

  10. Dd had this jab on Friday - it took her 72 hours to get over it properly so I think you may have made the right decision Taxi4ballet. She has had no problems with any other jabs but whilst her arm hurt a little the main side effect was she literally had NO energy .... To include not going dancing which is unheard of!!!! 72 hours later all forgotten but wiped out the weekend for her. Hope dd enjoys her SS.

  11. It's all very well having a box (or dance bag with separate sections for shoes etc but your child actually has to bother to put the stuff in the box in the first place in the correct section!!!

    Can you tell I'm bitter?

I usually find all component parts of dd bun (including attached hair-yuk!) in the well beside the hand brake - it's the first thing she does when coming out of dancing! What doesn't get left there could be anywhere!! Anyone else consider taking out shares in grips and nets?!

  12. Dd has a sectioned plastic box with hinged lid bought from Sally's - it's called a Grip and Pin session Kit - it comes complete with a variety of hair pins, grips etc. it's not huge but robust enough in her dance bag. We took out some grips to give a section for nets.
