out of interest, does anyone know how the reserve list works? do they not indicate who is on the reserve list at the audition? That's a lot of children left wondering whether they might get a phone call all summer isn't it?

balletqueen, I would have picked pretty much the same girls out for the scholarship (junior section) but then I've always done ballet and am thinking about going into teaching it myself (bit old really but you only live once and all that!). The girl who won it was extremely talented and I would have picked her too. I dance with one of the girls who was picked out for the senior scholarship and know that she is fabulous! See you in Nottingham!

HappyGirl, I'm glad you've made a decision! I watched your thread here and on Mumsnet with interest. Balletsister, my dd has applied and yes we did get an acknowledgement but we applied a week or so earlier to Birmingham when possibly they weren't so busy so I'm sure they'll get to you soon. I notice that there are four days of auditions in London so I expect it'll take time to plough through them?...

Hi Lou78
My dd (8) also auditioned and got a place. She is totally over the moon and I am extremely proud (and relieved!). She's really looking forward to the experience and meeting some girls of her own age which share her ballet passion. I took her to see the cinema relay from ROH last night of sleeping beauty which was just awesome. What with that late night, the audition on Monday and with two late rehearsals this week for her ballet school show coming up, she's exhausted!

I was told by RBS that they are currently 12.15-2.30 when I enquired by phone.

Oo thank you! That's really helpful! I can't believe some girls are chosen to do RBS JAs and elmhurst, the lucky things!! Thats total commitment! That's really useful to know the current b-ham times grumpy, thank you. Does anyone know about Manchester...?
-
Hi, sorry, it's the time of year for associate questions...! I've tried emailing and leaving a message at elmhurst to find out the location and times of their associate classes for year 5 but I have had no response. I would like to know this information before my daughter applies so we can make the right choice of location on the application form. I know it's tough to get in but want to know so we apply to the right venue! We're midway between Manchester and Birmingham so actual location and times might make all the difference to which venue. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Happymum, ah,you must have been in the earlier session because the boy in my dd's group was blond!
Anyway, I have info which may help you and others: I called RBS and asked them about times of JA classes and CURRENT times (which may change for 14/15) are Manchester fri/sun 1.15-3.30, Leeds 12.15-2.30, Birmingham 1.30-3.45. These are for year 5 groups but I know at the JA day yesterday she said year 6 at Birmingham was later than the year 4/5 group. I hope that helps a bit! It's a minefield isn't it!
-
Hi, I was there with my daughter. They said times for the JA sessions currently run from 1pm, then clarified early afternoon, not the morning. It was a good afternoon wasn't it?! Fab to see your son there, respect to him!

I'm gutted it's not coming near me too! My daughter (3) is desperate to see it (she has the advert on the back of her ugly duckling programme) and is not happy it's not touring near us!
-
Awesome! Thanks for the info, my youngest daughter (age 3) loves Justin and is currently very cross with me because she wants to see the 3 little pigs (she saw the ugly duckling on cbeebies and at the theatre) but it's not coming close enough for us to see it! This might just pacify her!

Thanks to all who replied, really useful info, and to Spanner for collating the links.

Wow! It sounds very fair, which is fantastic as I presume the little ones are still expected to do all the rehearsal times. My daughter is very keen so if you have any tips for the audition do please let me know! She's a good dancer but I guess she'll need to shine

Thank you S&P! It all looks lovely judging from the website, so the audition date will go on my calendar before I forget!

Hi, could anyone tell me what kinds of roles there are for 8/9 year old girls in EYB's Nutcracker? My daughter wants to audition next year but wants an idea of what she'd 'be' if she got a place. Thanks in advance

????????????
Fantastic news! Congratulations, so it does happen...!!

Hi, I've read this post with great interest! I'm delighted someone said that RB dancers are happy to give autographs. I have just bought tickets for the first night of R&J at the ROH. I am beyond excitement as my daughter and I have been desperate to see Lauren Cuthbertson dance for years. I am praying she will be recovered and performing. My daughter will be desperate to wait at the stage door to see her and hopefully get an autograph. As it's the first performance I'm assuming she wouldn't be out of the stage door before we would get there would she? My daughter is only 8 so it's going to be a very late night and I don't want her standing around for hours unnecessarily! Any more tips greatly appreciated!

You're so right!! It's more good advice, thank you!

That's very helpful Spooky! Mobile fully charged from now on...!

Hi Fusster, I'm sharing your pain...my dd is on Swl for Manchester and we've heard nothing. It's driving us crazy, I feel like an obsessed nutter and it has potential to ruin our summer hols!! Trying to remember good advice from earlier thread...and stop speculating!!

Congratulations snape, that's fantastic! We had to reply quickly too so fingers crossed someone decides not to take their place! It would be good to know exactly how many are on the swl but I guess we'll never know the answer to that one!

Short waiting list (or very long possibly)...

Thanks katycustard! I've my fingers crossed for all our littl'uns! I too keep having moments of thinking, 'oh go on, just give her a chance..!'
I'm trying to rid myself of a slightly wierd image of you attacking your postie with a custard gun screaming 'what do you mean, no post, no word from floral street, how very dare you..'!

Hi outofmydepth! Your post is lovely! My dd got on the swl last year (yr4) and is trying again this year in brum for yr5. Your comment about box splits will be passed on to her as she's worrying herself silly that she's nowhere near doing them! Thank you! Also, she was freaked out by the competitive warming up last year so I'll remind her to ignore them all!
