Good that you have worked it out now FF so that you can decide what to do I think I had my head in the sand a bit over finance during year of applications which on balance we can manage but you do have to go into this with your eyes open!

I can only speculate but I dont think it makes any difference as the panels seem to assess on the basis of the audition not the written info though I guess they are also interested in hrs of dance and range of experience too but the main factor will be performance at the audition/s.

Only place that filters on application form I think is Rambert and I cant imagine associate schemes will come into the decision making.

Anna c- re: whether the cover I have for dd covers physio that isnt post-op...I am not sure as struggling to work out what it all means as its all unfamiliar ground to me... Perhaps ' outpatient therapies ' covers physio and she has up to £500 on that but hard to compare as it is a work related scheme.

I have put my dd on BUPA scheme via work and i told them she is doing dance training but it didnt seem to make any difference to the cost. I wish I had taken the scheme out earlier though as it excludes an injury which may now need surgery and may have been able to accelerate treatment if had been able to go private.

For year 10 and 11 i discussed dd dance commitments with school and she then missed PE to be able to keep up with homework. Not sure if they would have done it from year 8 but as suggested above, worth speaking to the school.

I would n't take my dd for fitting whilst unable to do pointe due to injury...incidently my dd also off for ankle/ achilles injury and the only good thing about it is not having to keep buying pointe shoes!

I expect the deposit was a payment to Rambert to hold the place so I would ask them - maybe that they don't pay it back til completion of course or something though.

I dont have direct experience of the competition circuit but in talking to a mum who did once I am sure she said you can enter directly. Must be tricky to do though if this is the case.

I just cut my dd's head out of the audition photos that we didnt use as we had all sorts of surplus photos and stuck it on the form.

Brilliant experience to have taken part Kat09 and it must have been truly nerve wracking.

Congratulations to all those who took part in the competition it looked like a great experience and well done to those who have got through to the final. Must be super talented! I am sorry though that no UK trained girls seem to have made it through to the final this time.

Sorry if there is a topic on this somewhere on the Forum that I have not spotted and I am duplicating but I wanted to say good luck to anyone  who has a dc in the RAD Genee 2015 taking place in London. Really interesting to see the small sections of the coaching day on the RAD website.

Perhaps keep a front section of hair free whilst doing bun and then pin/secure this after bun in place?

You have my sympathies katymac as my dd also has an injury. It does bring home just how precarious the dance profession can be. Fingers crossed for a swift and effective recovery.

My dd has just started at vocational school sixth form but unfortunately has an injury that is limiting her dance, so right now I am delighted that she is able to carry on with three A levels as a diversion. I think though if she was fully fit she would drop one to concentrate on dance. It seems it would have been really difficult / even more difficult for her if she had taken up offer at a dance-only school but I guess they have ways of handling these issues too.

I absolutely agree that it is good to pursue what it is that you want to do etc but I do think the stakes are higher than even a few years ago now that university fees are so high. It must make financing a career change extremely difficult.

Plenty of non vocational girls get into vocational sixth form. Most that I have come across do a combination of good quality local classes, associates, summer schools and one off masterclasses so it can be quite a jigsaw puzzle to get access to good training and to keep benchmarking progress but definitely worth a shot.

I doubt the salary level for Dada would be raised again...but that is just speculation. For 2015 entry we provided the P60s for the most recent tax year so would have been 2014/15- didnt have to provide income evidence till about June when the dada form had to be submitted and dont think we had final confirmation of dada award until July. When dada provisionally offered it was on basis of declaration of income type form, not full assessment. Maybe some schools do things differently.

I think most girls were wearing split soles in all the vocational auditions last year.

All the associate schemes you mention are excellent for classical training. Not sure what age Central School of Ballet associates starts or how old your dd is but thats another option if London based.

Wow joemill that is wonderful news, you must both be over the moon after such a long wait! Exciting times! Hope he can get everything sorted for start of term.
