  1. Do you know anything about the summer intensive called American academy of ballet director mignon furman? supposed to be good, just wondering if anyone had any personal information! :)

Hi maleballetdancer12, my daughter attended this at the end of her yr 8 and had a fantastic time! There were a lot of kids from Royal there and although the standard was very mixed they were put into groups of their ability. Also the good thing is it doesn't start too early so British kids can get there for a few weeks.

  2. I agree with Julie and Hfbrew, everyone reads so much into everything and basically all they are doing is splitting 31 girls into 2 groups!!!

There are Jas in both groups and when my eldest daughter was there it was alphabetical so she was in group 2!! That simple!

Poor kids have got enough stress just going to these auditions without the added pressure from mothers analysing everything and probably getting it all wrong!

I told my daughter that she is in green group and that made happy as thats her favourite colour, my son is in blue group and he's with all yr 7 boys together.

It makes no difference if you are in the 1st group in or the 2nd just go with the flow and what will be will be

  3. My daughter was 10 last year at Royal summer school and did her own bun each day! I do however still do it for her most of the time especially for auditions and Jas etc as she prefers me to do it!!! She will have to do it soon enough is she goes away in September so I am happy to hold on to those moments for now!!!

  4. can totally relate to this with my eldest in USA at ballet school. We all miss her so much and count down the weeks until we see her again! You have to just accept it  and realise that they are in an amazing place having the time of their lives!

I cant say I like it but it makes the time together so special!!! :)

  6. Elmhurst used to be terrible for the tea coffee thing when we started there 5 yrs ago!! After a long trip there was NOTHING!!! We did all say something so I am glad that they are a little better now! Having said that at White Lodge they always have coffee and juice and loads of biscuits!! Even chocolate ones!!

  7. Hi just to clarify Harids academics are all on site now in a classroom with mentors as the schooling is 'on line'.

My daughter is in her 2nd year there and it is a fantastic school especially as it is so small, the pastoral care is excellent and the ballet is just amazing.

    We love it!
