As a longtime BCF follower I have, recently, become concerned about what I perceive to be a small, but significant, change in the general tone of remarks made in some of the more recent threads.

I wholeheartedly agree, and have noticed this myself, particularly this week, so much so that I contacted admin about it. I'm relieved it's not just me that has noticed this, as I thought maybe I was going mad!

Personally I feel that it is not criticism that is causing an issue, but the general squabbling that can ensue. I find that I have to wade through defensive comments that become less and less to do with the topic of the thread, to get to the interesting reviews and comments. Perhaps people can take up individual issues they have with what another member has said through personal messages, rather than on the board.

  2. Did anyone else find the TV coverage of the ballet final rather infuriating, in that it only showed fragments of each solo or pas de deux?

If the BBC are going to commit to covering this event surely it would be better to do it fully and completely? The whole point of watching is to see the dancing!

(Don't get me wrong- I'm very grateful that they have the event and that it's televised, I just found it frustrating to see scraps of the dancing).

  3. But I just want to comment how continually impressed as was at Meaghan Grace Hinkis. Her Florine was almost Bluebird rather than princess, inasmuch as it was vital, airy and beautiful. I wrote on Twitter how impressed I was at her attack, precision and poised. The same with her 'twootly Fairy's too. Just fantastic dancing!

I really love her too, in everything I've seen her in so far. I also enjoyed watching her in the classes on World Ballet Days.

  4. I enjoyed the Darcey Bussell programme last night immensely. It really made me miss her dancing! For me, there was something special about her that I'll never quite be able to put my finger on. I loved seeing her in the beautiful Prince of the Pagodas solos and Winter Dreams pas de deux again. While I know that there is a lot of criticism out there for Darcey as a presenter, to me she has an enthusiasm and obvious passion that I find warm and inviting.
