  1. We did initially pay €600 to accept and hold her place but have now received extra paperwork to return by 2 more weeks.
Pretty sure once that has been returned we are locked in for the entire year!

so it’s at this point I may have to ask for an extension or decide to just proceed.

  2. I’m not sure how it works juggling offers.

This is for full-time/vocational for a 17-year-old. DD applied to a couple of schools. We’ve heard back from one with an acceptance and have two weeks to take up the offer.

However, she has also progressed to the finals for two other schools, and she won’t know the outcome until well after those two weeks are up.
    How do people work this?

Do you ask for an extension? Is that the done thing or is that a big no-no?

We don’t want to risk putting in jeopardy the first offer as it may end up being the only one and we are quite happy with it. However she just like to see out all applications and make an informed decision.

Does anyone have any experience with asking for an extension or no? Is it an okay thing to do? How would I word it? Do I admit it’s to consider other offers (they probably guess). 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hi Ebonee - We secured our place with the deposit whilst trying to decide. A very expensive option I know. I'm still trying to get my head round the housing options!

Ah okay, I didn’t understand when we were actually locked in. So you can still pull out up until signing the next load of documents I guess?

Yes housing is the biggest stress! I’m hoping to line up a host family but that can’t be done apparently until May/June which is so last minute! 😬 Or otherwise I don’t know where to even begin with lining up a flat?!

My daughter (16) from the UK has also been offered a place starting Sept 24. My only concern is the accommodation. I'm hoping to go over for a look around in May

Will you ask for an extension for acceptance? We were only given two weeks to decide! I feel like I need more time also but wasn’t sure if it was the done thing to ask something like that?

    Hi Ebonee.

No decision here as yet. It really does sound a great school and like they give great training but work you hard which would suit my dd. I need to look into the accomodation and see how that works.

Its such a long way away too - lots to think about.

Feel free to PM me anytime - we can maybe share our findings whilst we make our decisions.

Where are you guys coming from? We are in Australia- I will dm you

Everything sounds pretty positive so far for us too, we have not accepted yet, but looking like we will be! Let me know if you guys end up accepting and maybe we can help each other through the visa process and accommodation options!

Hi 👋 my daughter has just been accepted for the 23/24 year. We are in Australia and she will be 18 when she arrives in Brussels. I am also searching the internet for accommodation solutions. Have you found any? Which country is your daughter coming from?

How are the kids who started 23/24 liking BIB so far? We are considering attending next year, would love any advice x

We have some experience of French schools.  The Opera Ballet School in Paris and Rosella Hightower in Cannes.  In general, the process starts way later than the UK and it can be difficult to find information.  The websites are not fantastic.  The information only became available early in the new year.  The Opera Ballet School requires a video and pictures, and I believe this is all due in March.  The English translation is not fantastic, so I would encourage you to call and find out about their process.

For Rosella HIghtower, the first opportunity is in mid/late April.  There is also July auditions.  The process here is all in one day with first round early in the morning and second round in the afternoon.  Very few make it through!  Also, they go by year of birth rather than school year.  So my dd was 2006 birthday while some of her friends were 2007.  They were all year 11, but my dd was put in with the older year audition and her friend was for the younger year (two different dates)

From what I gathered, lack of French is not a problem as they adapt quickly.

    Hope this helps!

My DD is interested in Rosella, do you know anything more about the audition process, do you know if they accept video auditions? Also do you know anything if the fees? I’m trying to navigate their website with difficulty : )

  11. Any recommendations for European vocational ballet schools for a 16 (17 on entry) year old dancer, with a classical focus, limited funds unfortunately $$.
We are from Australia so need to be able to video audition. I’m grateful for any guidance or experience as I don’t know much at all! Thank you!

    Hi Ebonee,

BBA has a good reputation. Are you looking at full time or the summer school?

Full time! It seemed like a great place and good vibes, but I can’t find much info on them? I’m wondering if it’s hard to get in and if it would be a good starting ground - obviously her goal being to get into a good company one day.

She hasn’t auditioned anywhere else (she’s 16) wasn’t sure whether to hold off and try other places?

  13. Full time!

She was accepted while on a holiday nearby, not really pre-planned, but now we aren’t sure whether to wait until next year as she hasn’t auditioned anywhere else before. I haven’t been able to find much info about them to help us decide.

    (she is 16)
