I saw someone’s school post about a student being offered it and this was a UK student who would be in juniors.

I don’t see why it isn’t a reasonable subject to discuss! I wonder how long this thread will last 😡

Why is it every time somebody speaks from their heart, and stands up for their children on this forum, the topic is locked??

You looked at me but did not smile,
And held my heart a little while.
I wanted you to share my zest
For pirouettes and arabesques.
But all you saw were those around me,
Whose extensions are astounding,
Due to their environment
They shower a grander battement.
This is impressive, I’ll not argue,
Who wants to watch a lazy tendu?!
But let me offer another view
Of what it’s like in our dance schools.
Where focus tends to be on the ‘whole’
Academics, and social all part of the goal.
Gradually developing those developées
Tortoise v hare for dancer longevity?
That doesn’t mean that we don’t care.
Nor does it mean that we lack flair.
A product made from whence we came
Haven’t we still got skin in the game?
We arrive with plans.
We come with dreams.
Being put in our place
Just strengthens our seams.
The sacrifices that we make
Matter as much as those from the States.
They’re just as many as those from France,
From Spain and Russia. And all who dance!
If we were exposed to Vaganova
Would we be able to win you over?
As it is, we dutifully
Follow the course of RAD.
That doesn’t mean that we can’t do it,
That we lack something as we go through it!
It simply means that context matters
So please don’t leave our hearts in tatters.
Try if you can to see beyond
Those perfectly formed ronds de jambe.
Instead, consider our innate graces
The musicality etched on our faces.
Don’t view lack of polish with disdain;
we too have bodies you can train!
Look to the soul and qualities within
That you can take out but can’t put in.
Consider giving us a chance,
To make it in the world of dance.
Don’t assume there’s not more there
if you can see a little flair.
Nurture, invest and shape our attitudes.
Don’t fob us off with worthy platitudes.
Take us, mould us, make us fly
And we’ll set our limits beyond the sky.
You have hit the nail on the head here! Let’s hope the AD’s get to see this, and perhaps they will understand
Thank you 🙏

RBS favour Internationals from year 8 upwards. If anyone wants proof then look at the year groups. Somebody said on here that there were no British children taken last year from year 8 all the way to upper school. I fear this will be the case again this year.
My question is why do the internationals want to come? when clearly their current training is much better than what RBS offer?
I feel for all the UK students as their national school doesn’t protect them and provide them with the same opportunities that others have in other countries. Perhaps RBS needs a name change to The International Ballet School!

i can see that it is difficult for those at Finals to hear about others gaining early acceptance through a competition. Ideally all candidates should be assessed together in one venue. On the other hand, it is a very big ask for international students to fly into London for a one-day audition, alongside a large number of other hopefuls.
I believe that yr10 finals are over two days and there are internationals making the trip to WL for final audition all the way from Australia!

That many at the audition auditioning for years 10 & 11 (currently in year 9 & 10).
I presume some of those will just be auditioning for SA’s and some for just full time and some for both

86 (or thereabouts depending if everyone from the previous groups were there), year 10 girls auditioned for WL/ SA in London yesterday...
Sorry I’m a little confused do you mean there are that many successfully going to finals at WL at the end of Feb
or
that many at the audition yesterday??
🤨

Has anyone heard of any UK successes for finals for WL year 10? I have seen some Australian successes on Instagram but that’s it. Considering there is only London auditions left for that age group, I thought perhaps we would have heard of some finalists especially on Instagram by now!

Is that for a year 10 place?

Just wondering if there have been any successes for Yr10 finals at RBS yet?
