We have also just received an offer and are considering attending 24/25.
Have you made a decision on attending yet?
Sounds great from the comments so far - I would love to hear any other feedback people have also.
Very daunting decision.... and of course their is housing to look into....

Are the students invited for the fall also invited to attend the summer program?   Just curious.  My daughter is planning to go for the summer program.

  2. I wonder if any one has thought about emailing to follow up on when they will send results. I think last year they updated the website to say the results would come of the week of blah blah... Do you think they would be annoyed and then that would affect the child's application?  I just don't know how long to wait.  The other program my daughter got into overlaps with RBS and I have no idea when it will fill.  Good news tho!  I was able to enroll my son in his sleep away camp with his friend! I was looking at the wrong age group when I thought it was full a few days ago.

  3. The summer camp my son wanted to attend with a friend has reach capacity.  He is going to be very annoyed if he realizes I didn't book it because I was waiting on RBS results for his sister before finalizing our summer plans!  Hopefully tomorrow we will be put our of our misery and can finalize plans and find a different summer camp.  😞

  4. I think it came last year on a Monday.  Maybe they will be working hard over the weekend to make their decisions.  But gosh this is miserable. Plus because so many people apply and the chances of getting in feel so slim, it all feels pointless and makes me so concerned other options are filling up as we wait!  But hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  5. I would love to see the pictures of those who are accepted!

Also I wonder if anyone has thought about emailing RBS to ask for an update as to when to expect results now that we are just beyond four weeks?

@HLH It’s a great starting point for a vacation, if you want to get her set-up and then take a 1-2 week trip….returning at pickup.

I recommend renting a car and hitting: Bruge, Ghent, Dinant, Aachen (Germany).  You could also do a longer driving tour of just Germany; 2 weeks is enough to do a nice loop through Central Germany all the way down to Bavaria.  Brussels is also a short train ride from both Amsterdam and Paris.  ….so lots of vacation possibilities, but may need to put them on a map and overlay with how much driving you want to do.

I'm sure I could find wonderful things to do!  Thanks for the recommendations.

My dd has decided not to audition after attending the summer school. Just did not feel like a good fit!

My DD was accepted to the summer program for this summer.  She will have just turned 14.  We are in California so we are trying to determine whether it is worth it to travel all the way to Brussels for the experience.  A plus is that she goes to French school so she could use her language there.  Would you mind sharing your dd's experience last summer?  Thanks in advance!

My DD attended summer 2022 for 2 weeks in level Avance.  She did not enjoy the program. We assumed the skill level would be high and intense but were disappointed.  I was able to observe classes and saw this to be true and not just her perception.  Several dancers consistently could not keep up with combinations.  A couple dancers were injured and would just sit out and play on their phones during class instead of paying attention. They said all classes would be in English yet there was always at least one teacher per day who would only speak to the French students or would give feedback in French only.  There is no investment in their summer program because POBS does not recruit for year round.  If your goal is to enjoy the culture and make it a vacation, by all means apply and have a once in a lifetime experience. If the goal is for your daughter to get top notch training, there are better options in my opinion.

Thank you for the feedback!  That's unfortunate that they did not speak English even though they said they would.  My daughter is fluent in French so it would be opportunity for her to practice her French and do ballet!  Plus it would be her first SI experience, so perhaps a lower skill level would be okay.  It's all interesting to think about.  Plus, I have no idea whether she'd get in.  But I appreciate your response.

  9. My 12 yo daughter is interested in applying for Summer 2023.  I was wondering whether anyone whose child attended POB in summer 2022 could tell us how they liked the program.  Also for those of you who are in the US, did your child only apply to POB?  If not, how did you know whether to wait on POB or accept other SI options since the US school acceptances typically arrive earlier in the year? Thank you!
