It just says waiting list. I know for Associate places they call it a “short waiting list” and I think it genuinely is small. But for intensives, I think it’s just a ranked waiting list. And I don’t know anyone who doesn’t get on the waiting list (unless they get a place!) which means it must be huge

I did wonder. We have only ever had “waiting list”, never “short waiting list” but everyone seems to talk about this so was confused. Good luck to anyone with that offer as its horrible being in limbo not knowing if it will happen

I have the same wording 'at this time'. I have seen several people posting on insta about 'short waitlist'. Can anyone shed light on that? I expect the waitlist to be ranked in order of preference according to age and gender but having two waitlist seems a little complicated.

Does the email actually say “waitlist” and people are assuming its short or does it say “short waitlist”? 😂

Ah thanks. Yes I also was worried that maybe they didn't receive the form. I was planning to follow up too just in case, but makes me feel better that others are waiting too. Thank you!

Hi. I assume you have now heard back? We heard on Wednesday.

They replied to my email today and will be looking at them in due course

Hello is anyone else waiting for a reply after submitting the injury form? When my daughter was accepted, they asked for her to fill out a form about her injury before they sent payment information. (Since she indicated on the application that she had had an injury within the past 18 months).
We filled out the form two weeks ago and still haven’t heard back. When is the payment deadline?

    thank you.

Hi. Yes we are awaiting a response also. I was worried that they hadnt received it our form so i emailed yesterday (not heard back yet). But if you are waiting then i guess they will be getting around to them.

That’s great, thank you! Yes, we do have the schedule for both days which is partly why I thought it was a little odd that they hadn’t said ‘there is a chance you won’t be needed for day 2’ if that was the case! Well enjoy the opportunity for 2 days whatever the outcome x

Having read old threads on here, i think parents thought it was harsh to cut them after day 1 and maybe complained. Which does happen in the professional world but when you are talking about 10/11 year olds, its a bit tough on them. My DD had a great final audition last year so enjoy it. They really look after you and it is a great experience whatever the outcome.

Change of topic slightly. But for Elmhurst final audition, do they cut them after day 1 and only have a smaller group for day 2? There’s been no hint of this at all in the communication we have had, but there are rumours going round! I’m wondering if this is a case that it’s something they used to do but don’t anymore. Any thoughts from those who have been through recently? Thanks!

Up until last year i believe they did used to invite children back for day 2. However last year all finalists were invited to both days but we didnt find out the schedule for day 2 until the end of day 1. I believe this years finalists already have the schedule for both days. Good luck

@Ruby Foo what other opportunities would you recommend this is first time applying for the RBS intensives I knew about them because my daughter is a Junior Associate which absolutely loves. She got waitlist for spring and summer, interested to know what else is around not necessarily for this year but next year. Any ballet opportunities she'd love. Thanks.

I can recommend Elmhurst, Yorkshire Ballet Seminars and also Malvern is very good and is non selective.

Have you tried applying for the Easter intensive? UK dancers seem to have much more luck receiving a place at that one in comparison to summer. Summer seems to be used more for international students x

Hi. Unfortunately we havent. My DD only decided she wanted to apply for summer at Christmas, so we applied on 2nd January. This is after making white lodge finals and still getting a waitlist place for summer. She didnt want to try again but then changed her mind and it was too late. She has had great experiences at other intensives so all is not lost but it would be nice for her experience dancing there at least once in her lifetime. But i dont think I will waste another £36 applying for Summer if its another waitlist place or even a no

  10. I think the fact that it is taking so long must mean record number of applicants so i am not holding out any hope for a Yes after 2 waitlisted places.
This will be the last time we apply for summer intensive though as it just means she is not what they are looking for and i am not going to do it to myself or let her have another rejection.
wishing you all the best of luck.

Thank you @Adagio123 any idea what parents do during this time?

Parents are expected to be there for the majority of it, the interview, tour, presentation but the email did ask for parents to leave site whilst they had their ballet classes but it was really bad weather last year so we stayed put. If they insist on leaving this year, there is a Costa not far away and also Canon Park and Midlands Art Cent (MAC) which has a lovely cafe that does lovely food. Also to add, the timetable for day 2 did not come through until the end of day 1 after they had been seen. It may not follow the same process this year but will give you an idea. Also the “getting to know you” was just an informal chat with one of the teachers asking why they chose Elmhurst and what they think might be difficult being away from home etc

Hi:  Does anyone know if there is a shuttle from Manchester for international students?  If not, is it an easy commute for a 15 year old to navigate?

It would be a train from Manchester airport to Harrogate with 2 changes. Where are you flying in from? Leeds airport is closer if you can fly into there?

The email states 4hrs on the 1st day and 6hrs on 2nd day . They did inform more information will follow however i am impatient and would love to know a bit more if anyone has any knowledge from last year!!

Last year they were split into groups on day 1. My DD had a physio assessment first followed by a “Getting to know you” type interview (child & parent) then there was a ballet class.
Day 2 they were rearranged into different groups. Had a tour of the school, classrooms, boarding houses, Bistro etc

Then there was a presentation in the theatre from key staff and then a ballet and contemporary class. My DD loved the 2 days at finals and felt at ease

Thanks @Adagio123 with regards to RAD do they start with Intermediate Foundation? What happens if they have taken it already?

Sorry i am only just seeing this. They start at the level they are at. So if they have already taken their Inter F, they will start at Intermediate otherwise everyone starts at Inter F. I had this confirmed by the registrar as my DD took her Inter F before starting at Elmhurst.
