I have had similar problem
in Bloch, I feel they just want to give you the latest technology.
We traipsed round London to find a replacement for her current brand as they are getting harded and harder to find at short notice.
She did have success in Dancia, but I wanted her to have a 2nd brand so we weren’t stuck in the same situation we have now. Capezio were also good, but sadly the ones she liked are being discontinued!Eventually I contacted Devoted to Dance (instagram). He sent a number of pairs, based on what my DD is currently comfortable in. He also offered to do an online fitting, but I trust my DD to make the right judgement (been on pointe a long time, also at vocational school). We then simply returned the ones she didn’t like. She is now in a brand I had never heard of - Virtisse - and she loves them.
My DD loves Virtisse (and she's tried Bloch, Capezio, and Freeds) but where do you find them in the UK? We buy stock when we are back in the U.S. would love to just purchase them here if possible.

Not being from UK but currently living in the UK, I have another question which I hope isn't too confusing- could you possibly not do the Trinity Diploma for example, and just do A levels or an Intl Baccalaureate or a U.S. online school or is that not possible?

Curious if like other summer intensives they scout for year round programs at the summer intensive- has anyone ever heard of this happening? or offer direct entry awards like with RBS?
-
Exactly, with little in the way of actual program info and levels it sometimes feels like we are making a decision in the dark but at minimum I trust it will be good exposure to the school ahead of any upper school auditions.

Hi- Does anyone have experience with the ENB Associates program? DD has received an offer for Mid Associate and just curious what the student experience is like as they said more info would be sent out later regarding the program but would love a heads up! (Any info on class size and levels, class offerings, any performance opportunities?) Much appreciated!

Just to add, MVA is run like an online version of a regular school - so they have small class sizes, a head teacher and head of year, whole year and year group assemblies, optional social rooms, clubs (art etc.), a personal “mentor”, regular reports. We have been very impressed so far (child started last September).
Thank you so much! I hadn't heard of this school before and will look them up. May I ask were you able to sample or get a feel for the online instruction before you comitted to it?

Thank you all so much for the feedback! This gives us a lot to think about!

I am curious if anyone has experience with switching to an online school environment for vocational ballet students Year 9 and above. It's something we've considered due to the flexibility it would afford for my DD to attend summer intensives and other training opportunities abroad. What are some of the leading online UK schools? Thank you in advance.

Historically they have been out before the schools break up for the holidays. Seems really late this year.
The assessments are very late this year so not sure if they will wait for those (it’s unusual to assess anyone out though)
This seems like a silly question but if most don't get assessed out how many spots are there really for new students? How many students are in a mid associate class typically?

results out!!

I was wondering around when would people think the elmhurst summer intensive audition results would be!
A happy yes here too! Would anyone be able to share their experience in the junior program? It's a bit shorter than most intensives ... what can they expect?

Does Ellison have accommodation that they provide for SI students do you know?
Yes they do! My DD has been to Ellison SI and thoroughly loved the challenge and training environment. We didn't use the accommodation so I wouldn't be able to give you a review on that.

It has quite a good reputation! My DD will join as well this summer (for the first time). I know a little bit about how it was organised last year from some other moms. The 12-14 group was divided in two groups of +-25 students. Good classes, nice accomodation. The last day (on Sunday) you will be able to watch the classes. I also know a mom that will chaperone this year, so a big advantage for my daughter as she will know someone to go to for any issues.
That is amazing to hear! My DD is 13 and we are considering whether to let her go also for the first time. I really appreciate the feedback!

Wondering if anyone has experience with Natl Dutch Ballet Academy SI for the 12-14 age group. It's only a week and wondering what the level of training is like etc. Thanks!

Hello all
Looking for some feedback on the Joffrey Ballet School SI's. The New York City school, not Chicago. Lots of mixed views out there. I know it is not very selective and that the groups tend to be very large. However, very little out there about the quality of the training or whether it is worth the money. The list of teachers looks really good.
Any feedback gratefully received.
Thank you
I think they its a great first intensive and everything you've said is true but if you want to be in NYC for the summer you can be assured to be dancing everyday and would use the opportunity to also take classes elsewhere while in NYC.

I don't know if anyone has gotten emails about RBS summer si but my DD had a direct entry award for this summer at WL and we just got the official email about registration info etc. Maybe this means letters out today or soon? Good luck to all!

Hi-
We sent in an application for EBS SI and this may sound like a basic question but was there an application fee or a return confirmation email once submitted? A confirmation # flashed on screen but I didn't receive a confirmation email. I emailed them to inquire but haven't heard back.
Also, as an aside, any experiences with Elmhurst Si for a 13 yr old. It says its a three day intensive only so curious how much dancing is involved and if there are levels.
Thanks!

There are already 17 girls in the current year 8 and that is a bugger than usual year. No one will be assessed out until February ‘24 so likely to be no more than one if any places. Last year two foreign students were taken foe the start if year 9 but their class was 15 at the time.
Thank you for the insight! I suppose it's similar to any major pre-prof ballet school! Just curious are the numbers similar in the associates schemes? Do they also get assessed out along the way?

My 12 (almost 13) year old daughter went today. She was in the last group of the day. Their group was around 25 Girls and there had been 150 during the day. No idea how many go to the finals...
Wow, 150 in that age group? My 13 yr old must have been in that same group. Best of luck to everyone!!!
