  1. Why am I saying this…I don’t think it is the same as gaining the place in year 8 per se…There were some fabulous dancers from all parts of the world and homegrown (UK) and I do not know how many of them were offered a place. I met some lovely parents too…the audition was remarkably calm and quiet.

  2. Thank you TwirlyWhirly! We are currently living in Europe so no MDS for us for two years 🙄 I know I don’t have to explain but I  want to set the record straight. My DD auditioned for year 8, but since she is born on a very last day of August, at the finals I mentioned whether she could be in fact considered for the year 7 since she is coming from different school system and would probably benefit from an extra year academically speaking, so the offer they sent is for the year 7! I did not mention it before in any email correspondence or anything like that, but it was something on my mind and the opportunity arose during the final in person auditions when another family suggested the same for their son who was also physically smaller. They noted it down informally and that was all 🤷‍♀️

  3. Got it, thank you! It’s strange they don’t actually tell you any of this in advance…it would be fair to know. My dd is applying for the year 8 - so current year 7, but I imagine that would be the same situation! Give everyone is guaranteed to stay if they want to for the first 3 years…

  4. Hi, I know it’s hard to tell but does anybody have an insight into how many dancers go to the final round of auditions and how many do they take for year 8?
My DD got to the final round but I don’t want to keep her hopes up, so looking for some stats…Thank you!

  5. Oh no I only just sent out the form about attendance on the final day of the SI W3 😩 I am so stressed that I missed the deadline and worry they won’t let me watch. I sent them an email apologizing so hoping they will take a pity on me.
I don’t understand why they needed it so early! It’s not like they are asking for some further details, only the name 🥺

A Russian student in my daughter's year group( age 15) SI,  had a fringe and wore it down for everything including the parent watching day. They didn't seem to mind at all and as far as I know she was never told to change it. It actually really suited her.  I would say it's fairly unusual to have a fringe down. Maybe you could call and check?

Thank you Valentina! You are right, I think I will probably call them and see what they say.

  7. Hi all, does anybody know the RBS policy on fringe/bangs? Do female dancers have to pin them away for the practice or just for the demos/performances? My daughter recently cut her hair and no she is unrecognizable in her portrait photo? Would you re-take photo with a fringe or will she have to pin hers away anyway? Thanks in advance for any input. I’m not sure what to do 😅

My DD is 11years old and it will be her first residential as well. It would be great to meet up beforehand so they have a familiar face when they get there. It depends a bit on logistics of how far away we are from each other. Is there any way of sending a pm from this site??

Hello, I sent you a private message yesterday :)

  9. Hi all, long time lurking but first post here. I saw couple of acceptances for week 3. My 10year old daughter is super excited to have been accepted as well. Would anybody want to meet up ahead or at the start of the week 3 and get the little dancers to get to know each other? It will be her first residential and she is a little bit nervous about that.
