Hello everyone,
I have a question for those who have already taken part in Elmhurst SI. In the timetable that we received a few weeks ago, they mention "Snacks available at bistro" during the morning and afternoon breaks. Do you know if they are included in the price or not? Also, they say that the students can bring a little money for the tuck shop. My question is How much money would you recommend?
Thanks for your help.
snacks were included when i went (it was typically a smoothie and a biscuit), I didn’t need more than £5 for tuck, it was only available one night when I went and it was just an ice cream for about £1.50

Hi! I was just wondering if anyone knows what the movement on the waitlist for schools like NSCD and Rambert is like?
-
I was just wondering if anyone has any advice for Rambert auditions? Just wondering what kind of exercises are typically done in the ballet portion. I’ve heard only some people do solos and some do a physio exam, does this determine who gets offered a place or is it completely random?
-
Hi! Was just wondering what type of solos people have previously done for Rambert auditions, mostly what kind of music everyone’s used? I’m unsure whether I should use music that has lyrics or just instrumental?

I’m 17 but went to malvern for the first time in the summer, it’s honestly such a lovely environment and really is like a family

Last year I did tights and shoes and there was no issue, that was a sixth form application though. Best bet would be to email them and check

This ☝️☝️☝️There is a Claudia Dean you tube video on ballet hairstyles that explains this method. Gets the bun flat every time. Key is putting hairnet on, remove pins, re model bun shape then re pin.
Removing the pins after the bun net is a lifesaver!! I started doing this last year and my bun has looked so much better since

I have a lot of hair and I find that splitting the ponytail into two sections and doing it in two twists instead of one really helps.
Getting a spray bottle of water to use before brushing it really helps me as well

Does anyone know how auditions work with any of the schools in Germany? Are any auditions hosted in the UK or can people apply by video?

We have received a Welcome pack with details of what to bring. Check your junk mail folder just in case it has gone there. If not, send them an email- they’re very quick to reply.
Got it now
Thank you for the help!

Just wondering if a kit list is sent out before Malvern starts? If not, do they need character skirts or anything like that?

I don’t do her associates course but I trained online with Camille for nearly the entirety of lockdown and I made so much progress and my confidence built up so much. She’s an amazing teacher!

Seniors is a much bigger age category, so maybe more apply. Hope you get places if you are on the waitlist
They gave out a lot of scholarships at international competitions which most likely meant places were more limited than usual

hi! i’m in the same situation at the moment, i’m auditioning for upper schools whilst going through therapy for my ed and anxiety.
at the start of this year I was so worried because I thought they’d choose the person without an ed over me, but at open days we spoke to the schools and they have way more resources than I thought to handle situations like mine. The general thing said was that they would do whatever was needed to help my mental health as a dancer and that as long as we’re honest about the situation I’m in, then it won’t effect my audition
i hope this has been a little bit of help and i hope you’re daughter is doing ok, going through an ed while auditioning is so so hard x
another thing is that i know a couple of people who have started upper school and left for residential ed treatment and have then gone back to their school when they’re ready so telling her this might help
i used to be really worried that i’d get in somewhere and relapse and have to leave and then it would all be over but finding this out helped a little bit
when applications started opening and i saw a couple of medical questions on the forms i begged my mum to lie on them and say i was completely healthy but after open days and talking to the schools i’ve felt a lot more understanding that the schools want to help you as a dancer and as a person, especially when it includes mental health

sorry if this wasn’t any help xx

For Rambert (and I think Central) you have to write a personal statement
