I don’t think there will be any movement until the offers are officially in place and accepted. I believe no one has officially had the official MDS offer with the amount of funding they will receive. It’s a case of waiting to hear from support fund first. Those with MDS offers will still be waiting to hear how much funding they would be entitled to….But yes I’ve started to lose hope and starting to plan ahead

It’s so hard isn’t it! Have you heard anything from the support fund?

We got a call just before Easter. My daughter has been offered a DADA for The MT Diploma. We are over the moon as we couldn't afford full fees. I hope everyone else hears something soon. Xx

That’s great news. Anyone heard anything about MDS coming avalaible?

My daughter was awarded MDS to start year 7 this coming September. She did not apply anywhere else so not waiting on other results. I know of maybe 3 others for year 7 that got MDS and as far as I'm aware they are not waiting on results from elsewhere either. I think it would be better for the school to be more transparent with this rather than have people waiting and hanging on to hope.

I agree, it would be nice to know but I suppose anything can and does happen so It’s just a case of sitting tight and waiting. I wish we were able to know our child’s position on the waiting list as that would give you an indication of whether to keep hoping or not but like I said anything can happen and I’m a firm believer in what’s meant to be will be!

Elmhurst results are expected this Saturday, so there could be some movement on the waitlist in the coming weeks. I imagine Tring MDS and WL results will follow very soon too. Fingers crossed.
Iv’e only heard of a few MDS places for year 7 at the Hammond this year, anyone heard different? Seems like a limited year this time sadly.

I got told there were 9 to go across everyone who auditioned 😞

  5. The waiting to hear about any sort of funding support is killing me 😞 I’ve written to some of the funding suggestions but only had “no” so far. Anyone else having any luck?

  6. I heard (and only through word of mouth so have no idea if this is true) that they had 9 MDS awards to give this year throughout all the year groups. That doesn’t make me feel very positive about one coming available but will just have to hang tight!

  7. If your child received an MDS award could you also say whether they got it straight away or after being on a waiting list pls? Trying to surround myself with positive stories 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

  8. Also wondering if anyone got offered a place on the day? I know in previous years people have? Wasn’t sure if they would ask you to wait or how it would work as surely they would offer it with a parent there?

  9. Thanks for this topic! My daughter wants to audition and I am completely clueless. I have tried searching topics but can only find old threads and am hoping for some help!

I know that RBS offers means testing fees to all students but what about the others? My daughter has her heart set on Tring but without financial help this won’t be possible- which she knows! Can anyone shed some light pls?

I know you can be invited to audition for awards, but what if you don’t get one? Is it then full fees regardless of income?

It’s so hard. They have really specific requirements regarding turnout and flexibility, and a child that doesn’t meet these would have to be absolutely magical to watch to get in without meeting these requirements. There was a girl in DD’s JA class with really limited turnout, but she was stunning to watch so they tried really hard to work with her issues. Ultimately, she didn’t make it into MAs, but it was easy to see why they wanted to help her.

With so many videos to watch, they couldn’t possibly spend time watching children that do not fulfil the criteria. The £50 fee is for the admin process and for them to be considered, but no one would expect them to keep watching if they know that a place will not be allocated to that child.

Children change a lot from one year to the next, and a ‘no’ one year can become a ‘yes’ later. RBS is not the only school, and ballet is not the only dance form, but the process is universally tough, and the first knock backs can be hard to accept.

I completely get all of that. However our first video was only viewed for the first 28 seconds- she hadn’t even moved off the spot by then 😂 I firmly believe everything happens for a reason and she’s so happy at Elmhurst that I don’t think she would have moved anyway but I do wonder about this process. £50 is a lot more money than any other audition we have taken part in, yet this was the only one not conducted via zoom 🤷🏻‍♀️
