Magri just posted from her last rehearsal for Swan Lake so seems like it isn't an injury for her - perhaps just workload management.
Marianela posted rehearsing Swan Lake on her Instagram yesterday as well, so could be workload management for her as well?

Anna-Rose O'Sullivan has just posted on her Instagram stories (only available for 24hrs) that she's "out for a little bit of time to heal an injury" - hopefully nothing too serious!

Surely Wayne Eagling, on whom the role was created, should be coaching? One does wonder sometimes about their coaching decisions when there are so many excellent retired dancers around who worked with our great choreographers? I saw six performances in a week once, with song of the earth. Not an experience I’d wish to repeat.
I saw a photo of Reece Clark on instagram being coached in Different Drummer by Wayne Eagling this week.
It was posted by ”dancersdiary” but on the stories so only available for 24hrs- 1

Wow, he will be very missed!
This does explain his lack of casting in anything after Manon. Will definitely try and see if there are returns for the 8th March Manon performance now!

He's also the music director at BRB and (I know I'm not at every performance) I can't remember the last time I saw him conduct them...
Graham Watts posted on his Instagram that Koen Kessels is stepping down from BRB at the end of this season

The extortionate prices for Swan Lake don't seem to be putting people off - no stalls or grand tier available on the opening night!!

Also Francesca in this role at last!
Francesca has danced Manon a few times now, she last performed with Alexander Campbell. She was brilliant, definitely my number 1 choice for the role at the moment!

I've just been sent an invite to test the new ROH Livestream feature on the ROH Stream channel - email contents pasted below.
Perhaps this is paving the way to being able to live stream performances from your TV, maybe replacing or in alongside the Cinema Relays?
As a subscriber of Royal Opera House Stream, I’d like to invite you to take part in a trial of our new livestreaming feature.
We will be livestreaming Insights: Photographing The Dante Project with Mary McCartney on 30 November 2023 at 7.30pm BST to invited audiences on Royal Opera House Stream. If you are selected to take part, you will be able to watch the performance free of charge on a laptop, desktop, tablet, mobile device, or using one of our TV apps. The performance will then be available to watch on the platform for 72 hours.
In return, I will send you a feedback form following the livestream that will ask about your experience and help our team make improvements. This should take no more than 15 minutes of your time. You will also be able to report any technical issues or share ideas for improvement in real-time on the Royal Opera House Stream website.
If you would like to participate, please fill out this brief form with your details (less than five minutes). We appreciate your help!

Me too. I'm afraid Hinkis does absolutely nothing for me whereas I would have scurried to get a ticket for Gasparini.
Totally agree with this! -
Luke Jennings has just published an article in response to the Panorama programme, a very good read I think

I sometimes think the concept of boarding school is harder on the parents than the children, as they frequently find it more difficult to accept the separation.
As someone who boarded from 11 and loved it, I would agree with this!

In which case I wonder why it wasn't announced a couple of months ago? That's why it seems sudden...
The ROH have just announced it on their Instagram account

I've just seen on Instagram that there is going to be a photo book of Marianela Nunez, 'Moments with Marianela' published in November. All photos taken by Maria-Helena Buckley who I think takes a lot of the rehearsal type photos that appear on Marianela's Instagram.
It's published by Scala Arts & Heritage Publishers - more info here: https://scalapublishers.com/moments-with-marianela/ and you can already pre-order from Amazon here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Moments-Marianela-Núñez/dp/1785514733/ref=sr_1_1?crid=HZ9UBGFWM8GW&keywords=moments+with+marianela&qid=1693300676&sprefix=moments+with+marianela%2Caps%2C104&sr=8-1

It does say that the cheapest seats (often with restricted view) cost on average £25.55 which is a 12.8% increase on 2022. The average ticket last year cost £54.38
Not sure how the compares across the ROH, which is of course subsidised

Royal Opera House not mentioned, but seems like they're not the only one getting ridiculously expensive: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/david-tennant-ludicrous-theatre-prices-threaten-future-of-british-tv-and-film-zf7b97qtd

Is it possible that we sometimes take how lucky we are to watch Marianela Nunez dance so often in London and how consistently brilliant she is, for granted?
I agree with this 100%!

I wish his Carmen had been left out, though. Hopefully it will be a short clip....
It does just say: Carmen Suite [excerpts: Tavern Scene, Pas de Deux] so thankfully not the whole thing!

I'm sure I heard somewhere that he was dancing the Apollo PDD with Marianela, who incidentally has just posted a picture on her Instagram rehearsing what looks to me like the Manon Bedroom PDD with Carlos so we could be seeing that as well?

I also assumed it was a clever move by ROH to put Nela/Vadim post Christmas for Nutcracker to ensure those sell well
I've just seen on Instagram that they're dancing The Sleeping Beauty in Tokyo on the 2nd & 3rd December, so that explains why they're doing Nutcracker post Christmas

I don’t know whether others have read the article in today’s LINKS about Oz Ballet’s dancers threatening industrial action over their pay?
there’s also something similar at Dutch National Ballet which I’ve just been sent: https://petities.nl/petitions/support-the-voice-of-dutch-national-ballet-dancers?locale=en

There's also on YouTube (definitely not legal!) a full recording of Marianela and Thiago Soares dancing Onegin at the Royal Ballet - from memory it's a fixed camera recording and had the ROH logo in a top corner so I guess was filmed for internal Royal Ballet use only but has somehow ended up on the internet.
Not sure of the date though.
