  2. Kathryn Morgan (she used to be a dancer with New York City Ballet) has a really good video on how to use a foam roller on her YouTube channel  :)

Can I tag on - is there a GOOD (reputable, trustworthy) site (or YouTube channel) which demonstrates some ways to use the roller? I blunder about with some large (but quite soft) rollers in my gym. But those seem to be ones which are long & broad enough to use in exercise classes - aligning one's spine along them and doing core stability exercises. I'd like to start rolling out my tight Achilles & hamstrings, so wondered about the appropriate roller & techniques.

  3. A slippery floor makes pointe work much harder, and it is much easier to get into bad habits because of a slippery floor. Simple releves at the barre and in the centre with a bit of rosin is not too bad, but it really isn't ideal. If possible, I think it would be better to move your dd to a school with a really good teacher and a good sprung floor covered in proper floor covering like harlequin or marley (easier said than done, lol!).

  4. I'm very fussy with tights, and I have just started using the Wear Moi tights, which so far have lasted me quite well, although they are a little pricey (I get mine for £10 from planet dance). Also, if I ever get a small snag or run in your tights, I put a little bit of clear nail polish on the area asap to stop the run or the snag from getting worse, so that I can keep wearing them for a while.

  5. I have curly and very frizzy hair (although my hair is not dry like your dd's, it gets oily quite quickly), and the only thing that I have found to work to get my hair super slick is a spray of conditioner, followed by the Vo5 men's hair gel (cheap hair gels or gel spray's make my hair frizzier) and Vo5 or L'oreal hair spray (again, the really cheap hair sprays make my hair frizzier).

For everyday class I don't like to use much product, so I have found that a low bun with a side or centre parting and just a bit of hairspray or a few clips looks much neater and doesn't get as frizzy as a regular high bun.
